NCAA Basketball: The Louisville Cardinals will face Oregon in the Midwest Region Friday night in Indianapolis after defeating Colorado State Saturday. Oregon earned its berth after defeating St. Louis 74-57 Sunday.

The other game in Indy will feature Michigan State against Duke. The Blue Devils advance following a 66-50 win Sunday over Creighton.

Florida will face Florida Gulf Coast in the South Region Friday in Dallas. Florida earned its trip with a 78-64 win over Minnesota Sunday, while the 15^th seeded Eagles defeated San Diego State 81-71. The other South region game has top seeded Kansas meeting Michigan. KU advanced with a 70-58 win over North Carolina Sunday.

Indiana got by Temple 58-52 to move on in the East Region to face Syracuse and Marquette will meet Miami, who defeated Illinois Sunday 63-59. Those games will be Thursday night in Washington, DC.

Arizona will meet Ohio State in West Region action Thursday in Los Angeles. The Buckeyes eeked out a 78-75 win over Iowa State Sunday. Wichita State will meet LaSalle who defeated Ole Miss 76-74 Sunday.

Women’s NCAA: Kentucky rolled over Navy 61-41 in Sunday’s opening round game of the Bridgeport regional in Queens, NY. The 28-5 Wildcats will next face Dayton Tuesday night. Dayton defeated St. John’s 96-90 in double overtime. You can hear the game at 5:45 on Lite 98.7.

Louisville won its opening round game in the NCAA tournament, defeating Middle Tennessee 74-49 and will face Purdue who defeated Liberty 77-43 Tuesday night at the KFC Yum Center in the 2^nd round of the Oklahoma City regional.

Ohio Valley Conference champion UT Martin saw its season end with a 97-64 loss to Notre Dame Sunday in Iowa City. UT Martin finishes the season 19-15.

Tonight’s games include Tennessee meeting Creighton in the second round of the Oklahoma City regional, while Vanderbilt meets Connecticut in the second round of the Bridgeport regional.

Western Kentucky saw its season end in the WNIT Sunday, falling to Auburn 84-66. The Lady Toppers finished the season 22-11 under first year coach Michelle Clark-Heard.

College Football: Following the hiring of Kirby Cannon as its new coach, Austin Peay is finally ready to begin spring practice. Coach Cannon says he does not anticipate changing much of the system the Governors have in place offensively and defensively. Workouts will begin tomorrow according to the Leaf Chronicle.

NHL: The Nashville Predators go for their third win in as many games as they host the Edmonton Oilers this evening. Coverage of the game from Bridgestone Arena begins at 7 on News/Talk WHOP.

PGA Tour: A fierce storm wiped out the final round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational Sunday, with it to conclude today in Orlando. Tiger Woods has a three shot lead on Keegan Bradley, Ken Duke and John Huh early in the round.

Champions Tour: Michael Allen won his fourth Champions Tour event Sunday, taking the Mississippi Gulf Resort Invitational. Allen finished at 11 under par, one stroke better than Bernhard Langer. Paducah’s Russ Cochran tied for third at eight under par.

High School Baseball-Friday’s scores: Christian County defeated Kenwood 5-1, Owensboro Catholic over Union County 15-5, Paducah Tilghman edged Webster County 7-6.

Western Kentucky gave top seeded Kansas all it wanted in their South Region matchup in Kansas City, but the Hilltoppers fell 64-57. The Hilltoppers were led in scoring by Jamal Crook with 13 points, TJ Price added 12 and Alekjs Rostov added 11 as WKU finishes the season 20-16, while Kansas improves to 30-5 and will face North Carolina Sunday. The Tar Heels defeated Villanova 78-71.

There were several upsets on Friday including 15^th seed Florida Gulf Coast knocking off 2^nd seed Georgetown in South Region play 78-68. Florida Gulf Coast will face San Diego State Sunday after the Aztecs knocked off Oklahoma 70-55.

12 seed and SEC tournament winner Ole Miss knocked off Wisconsin 56-47 in the West Region and will face LaSalle Sunday. The 13^th seeded Explorers upset 4 seed Kansas State 63-61 after blowing a 19 point lead.

Top seed Indiana won its opening game in the East Region easily over James Madison 83-62 and will face Temple Sunday. The 9^th seeded Owls knocked off 8^th seeded North Carolina State 76-72. Florida rolled with ease in defeating Northwestern State 79-47 and will next face Minnesota Sunday after the 11^th seeded Golden Gophers upset 6^th seeded UCLA 83-63.

Today’s action begins with Virginia Commonwealth meeting Michigan in South Region play at 11:15 am and includes Louisville meeting Colorado State at 4:15 in the Midwest Region in Lexington, with coverage of all games today beginning at 11 am on News/Talk WHOP.

Meanwhile, Samantha Drake did not make the trip with the Wildcats to their NCAA Tournament appearance. The Lexington Herald Leader reports Drake was suspended indefinitely for not “upholding to team standards” according to a UK spokesperson. Drake was averaging 2.6 points and 1.4 rebounds this season.

College Football: Kentucky had its third practice of the spring Friday, with coach Mark Stoops saying it was the best the team had looked in its three workouts. Stoops told the Lexington Herald Leader he felt the team had a sense of urgency and for the first time he felt the pressure the team could put on others. The Wildcats are scheduled to practice again today.

Kentucky also received a 2014 commitment Friday, with linebacker Dorian Hendrix committing during his unofficial visit. Hendrix had offers from a number of schools including Indiana and Illinois, along with Tennessee. 24-7 Sports has Hendrix as the 29^th best prospect in Ohio.

University of Louisville defensive line coach Clint Hurtt was placed on administrative leave Friday. Cardinals coach Charlie Strong says Hurtt was given time off so he could prepare to answer questions concerning NCAA violations while an assistant at the University of Miami.

Louisville athletics director Tom Jurich said last month Hurtt would remain on the Cardinals staff while his case was pending, but stopped short of saying he would return next season.

Western Kentucky began spring workouts Friday under new coach Bobby Petrino. The Hilltoppers are busy with much detail as they are putting in new schemes both offensively and defensively. WKU will practice again today and tomorrow, with the spring game scheduled for April 20^th.

College Baseball: Austin Peay swept a pair of games from Jacksonville State 5-4 and 10-1 to improve to 19-3 overall and 4-0 in the OVC. The teams will close out the series this afternoon in Clarksville.

Murray State’s Cameron Finch tossed the eighth no hitter in school history Friday as the Breds defeated SIU Edwardsville in OVC play 1-0. The junior tossed his second career complete game and in 96 pitches walked four and struck out five. The two teams play again today at SIU Edwardsville

Other action saw Mississippi State defeat Kentucky 8-4 and Western Kentucky got by Florida International 4-3.

College Softball: Murray State swept a pair of games from Tennessee Tech 3-2 and 2-1. Former Christian County standout Casey Castile had a double in going 2-4 in the 3-2 win. The two base hit was Castille’s ninth of the season, tying her season high from a year ago. Murray State will play a doubleheader at Jacksonville State Sunday.

Austin Peay will play an OVC doubleheader today at Jacksonville State and at Tennessee Tech tomorrow.

NHL: The Nashville Predators look for their second win in as many games this evening as they host the Columbus Blue Jackets. First puck at Bridgestone Arena drops just after 7.

PGA Tour: Tiger Woods bogied his last three holes Friday and stands four shots off the lead heading into the third round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational near Orlando. Woods fired a 70 and sits at five under par. Bill Haas and Justin Rose are tied for the lead at nine under 135, one shot ahead of John Huh.

Champions Tour: There’s a four way tie for the lead after the first round of the Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic. Hal Sutton, Steve Elkington, Corey Pavin and Roger Chapman are all at three under par 69. Six golfers including Fred Funk and Mark O’Meara are one shot off the lead. Paducah’s Russ Cochran fired a three over par 75.

President Obama has picked his bracket for the Women’s NCAA tournament which begins tomorrow. The president has Baylor defeating Notre Dame in the national championship game, with California and Connecticut the other teams in the Final Four to be played in New Orleans.

NFL: ESPN reports the Baltimore Ravens have expressed an interest for the services of free agent defensive end Elvis Dumervil, released last Friday due to a fax snafu by the Denver Broncos.

The Broncos have made Dumervil an offer to return and he has agreed to take a salary reduction.

NCAA Tournament: Overall number one seed Louisville rolled to a 79-48 win over North Carolina A&T in the opening round of the Midwest Region at Rupp Arena Thursday. The Cardinals got 23 points and eight steals from Russ Smith. The Cardinals improved to 30-5 on the season and recorded their 11^th straight win. Louisville faces Colorado State on Saturday. The Rams shocked Missouri 84-72.

Belmont saw its season end following a 81-64 loss to Arizona in West Region play in Salt Lake City and one of the big upsets of the day saw 12^th seeded Oregon defeat 5 seed Oklahoma State 68-55 in Midwest Region play in San Jose.

Multiple reports say former Tennessee football coach Bill Battle will become the new athletics director at his alma mater, the University of Alabama. Mal Moore stepped down earlier this week for health reasons. The 71-year-old Battle is a businessman in Atlanta.

NFL: The Tennessee Titans have agreed to a one year contract with safety Bernard Pollard. The seven year veteran has spent the last two seasons with the Baltimore Ravens and was a key player in leading the team to this year’s Super Bowl title. Titans general manager Ruston Webster says having both Pollard and George Wilson give the Titans more options and improved depth at the safety position.

NHL: Mike Fisher scored a pair of goals as the Nashville Predators snapped a four game losing streak with a 5-3 win over Calgary. The Predators host Columbus tomorrow night at 7 in Bridgestone Arena.

PGA Tour: Justin Rose shot a blistering seven under par 65 and has a two shot lead on James Huh heading into the second round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Tiger Woods is tied for fifth at three under, four shots off the lead. Danville native Josh Teater is at three over par, with Nashville native Brandt Snedeker at four over par.

The transfer rumor mill at Kentucky has started. 24-7 Sports reported last night on Twitter that Kyle Wiltjer may transfer to Gonzaga. Wiltjer was voted as the SEC’s 6^th man in the just completed season.

College Football: Kentucky had its second spring practice Wednesday, with coach Mark Stoops noting the practice was better than the one Monday. Stoops said the execution was better and ran at a much faster tempo. Stoops added the offense was more efficient than in the first workout, but stated both the offense and defense need a lot of reps. The Wildcats will put pads on for the first time on Friday.

High School Softball/Baseball: The Kentucky Softball Coaches Association pre season top 25 has Greenwood at number 1, Owensboro Catholic is 2^nd, Christian County is 8^th, Bowling Green is 10^th, with Reidland 11^th, Lone Oak 15^th, Marshall County 16^th and Livingston Central 19^th.

MLB: Cactus League action this afternoon has Cincinnati meeting Oakland, while the Chicago Cubs will split their squad up today to meet the Los Angeles Dodgers and Seattle Mariners.

Grapefruit League action includes the St. Louis Cardinals facing the NY Mets.

PGA Tour: Play is underway at the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill, with defending champion Tiger Woods among those in the star studded field. Woods has won the event seven times.
