High School Basketball
Girls 2nd region All A tournament scores: University Heights moved to the semifinals with a 53-45 win over Trigg County. The Lady Blazers had three players in double figures led by Dannika Prater with 18, Kiki Smith 12 and DeNayia Holmes with 11. Trigg County was led by Alyssa Maxey with 17 points. UHA has now won 12 of its last 13 games in improving to 15-1, while Trigg County has lost four of its last five games in falling to 9-8.
UHA will face Crittenden County in the second semi final game Thursday night at Dawson Springs. The Lady Rockets defeated Dawson Springs 57-44. Livingston Central defeated Lyon County 59-39 and Webster County over Caldwell County 66-27. Livingston Central meets Webster County in the first semi final game Thursday night at 6.
Elsewhere: 4th region All A scores saw Russellville defeat Cumberland County 49-46, Todd Central over Metcalfe County 49-37. 1st region All A scores saw Murray win over Reidland 56-26 and Ballard Memorial over Fulton County 60-34. Central Hardin defeated Warren East 75-46.
Boys: 1st region All A action saw St. Mary defeat Murray 61-46, 4th region All A—Russellville defeated Cumberland County 64-59. At the Superman Classic—Massac County defeated Calloway County 49-37.

College Basketball
Austin Peay defeated Tennessee State 69-63. Four Governors were in double figures led by former Heritage Christian Academy standout John Fraley who had 16 points and former UHA standout Tyshwan Edmondson added 10. Austin Peay is now 6-13 overall and 3-3 in the OVC and riding a three game winning streak.
Louisville loses for the third time in its last four Big East games at Marquette 74-63. The Cardinals are now 14-5 overall and 2-4 in Big East play.
Women’s scores: Austin Peay lost to Eastern Kentucky 61-59 and Murray State defeated Jacksonville State 73-57.
Tonight’s games: Second ranked Kentucky hosts Arkansas for an 8 pm tip off at Rupp Arena, with pre game coverage at 6:30 on Lite 98.7.

Women’s: Western Kentucky takes on Tennessee Tech.
Murray State’s men’s team is ranked 10th in the newest ESPN/USA Today Coaches poll, with the Associated Press poll ranking the Racers 12th this week. Kentucky is ranked second in both polls behind Syracuse. Louisville is 21st in the AP poll, 23rd in the ESPN poll.
Kentucky freshman Anthony Davis was named the SEC freshman of the week Monday. Davis averaged 16 points, seven rebounds, four blocks, two and a half steals and two assists in wins over Auburn and Tennessee. It’s the third time this season Davis has won the award.
College Football
The Courier Journal reports Kentucky’s third all time leading high school rusher—Anthony Wales of Louisville Central—has committed to play collegiately at the University of Louisville. Wales led Central to back to back Class 3-A state titles and rushed for 82-hundred and 13 yards during his high school career.
NFL
The Tennessee Titans announced the hiring of Brent Maxie as the team’s new secondary coach. Maxie has spent the last four seasons coaching the Dallas Cowboys secondary and has 14 years of NFL coaching experience. Maxie replaces Marcus Robertson who was not retained at the end of the 2011 season.
NHL
The Nashville Predators scored three times in the first period in defeating the New York Islanders 3-1. The Preds face the New York Rangers this evening at Madison Square Garden.
