2nd region All A: Caldwell County shut out University Heights 9-0 and Crittenden County shut out Trigg County 3-0.
Elsewhere: Madisonville edged Marshall County 6-5, Muhlenberg County over Hopkins Central 10-8.
Today’s game: Hopkinsville is in 8th district action at Fort Campbell.
High School Softball
2nd region All A: Livingston Central defeated Crittenden County 10-0 in 5 innings and Webster County over Dawson Springs 18-0 in 6 innings.
Elsewhere: Christian County over Fort Campbell 15-0 in 3 innings, Todd Central edged Logan County 4-3, Henderson County also won 4-3 over Union County and Hopkins Central defeated Madisonville 3-1.
Two members of Hopkinsville High’s soccer team signed collegiate letters of intent Tuesday. Trey Upton and Houston Stagner will play collegiately for Union College.
Hopkinsville basketball player Lawrence Smith will sign a basketball scholarship today with Lincoln Trail Junior College. The ceremony is at 1:45 at Hopkinsville High School.
College Basketball: It came as no surprise as Kentucky freshmen Anthony Davis. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Marquis Teague and sophomores Terrence Jones and Doron Lamb all announced last night they are leaving Kentucky after leading the Wildcats to their 8th national championship and putting their names in the NBA Draft.
The Louisville Cardinals were also honored for their outstanding season during a celebration at 4th Street Live last night. The Cards lost to Kentucky in the semifinals of the Final Four after winning the Big East Championship.
College Football: An arrest has been made in connection with the shooting outside the Lava Lounge in Bowling Green early Sunday which wounded two Western Kentucky University football players.
The Bowling Green Daily News reports Travis Fant is charged with two counts of first degree assault, one count of receiving stolen property-firearm and one count of tampering with physical evidence. Fant is lodged in the Warren County Regional Jail. The players, Tevin Holliman and Ricardo Singh were hospitalized for non life threatening injuries.
NFL: The Tennessee Titans 2012 regular season schedule has been released. The Titans will open the season hosting the New England Patriots September 9th, and will face the Detroit Lions September 23rd. The Titans will also host a Thursday night game with Pittsburgh October 11th and the New York Jets will come in for Monday Night Football on December 17th.
The Titans have also announced their 2012 Caravan schedule and it includes a stop in Hopkinsville. Titans players—yet to be announced, along with the Voice of the Titans Mike Keith and mascot T-Rac will be at O’Charleys on Fort Campbell Boulevard Monday April 30th at 5:45.
NHL: The Nashville Predators can wrap up their Stanley Cup Playoff series with Detroit Friday night at Bridgestone Arena. Last night, the Predators defeated the Red Wings 3-1 to take a 3-1 lead in the series. You can hear Friday night’s game at 7 on Newstalk 95.3 FM/1230 AM WHOP.
Minor League Baseball: The Nashville Sounds series opener with Oklahoma City was rained out last night and will be played as part of a doubleheader Thursday night. The teams will play an 11:05 game this morning at Greer Stadium.
