NCAA Tournament: Overall number one seed Louisville rolled to a 79-48 win over North Carolina A&T in the opening round of the Midwest Region at Rupp Arena Thursday. The Cardinals got 23 points and eight steals from Russ Smith. The Cardinals improved to 30-5 on the season and recorded their 11th straight win. Louisville faces Colorado State on Saturday. The Rams shocked Missouri 84-72.
Belmont saw its season end following a 81-64 loss to Arizona in West Region play in Salt Lake City and one of the big upsets of the day saw 12th seeded Oregon defeat 5 seed Oklahoma State 68-55 in Midwest Region play in San Jose.

Multiple reports say former Tennessee football coach Bill Battle will become the new athletics director at his alma mater, the University of Alabama. Mal Moore stepped down earlier this week for health reasons. The 71-year-old Battle is a businessman in Atlanta.
NFL: The Tennessee Titans have agreed to a one year contract with safety Bernard Pollard. The seven year veteran has spent the last two seasons with the Baltimore Ravens and was a key player in leading the team to this year’s Super Bowl title. Titans general manager Ruston Webster says having both Pollard and George Wilson give the Titans more options and improved depth at the safety position.
NHL: Mike Fisher scored a pair of goals as the Nashville Predators snapped a four game losing streak with a 5-3 win over Calgary. The Predators host Columbus tomorrow night at 7 in Bridgestone Arena.
PGA Tour: Justin Rose shot a blistering seven under par 65 and has a two shot lead on James Huh heading into the second round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Tiger Woods is tied for fifth at three under, four shots off the lead. Danville native Josh Teater is at three over par, with Nashville native Brandt Snedeker at four over par.
