College Basketball: Five of the six signees and commitments for Kentucky’s 2013 recruiting class were chosen to play in the McDonald’s All American game Thursday. Wildcat signees Aaron and Andrew Harrison, Marcus Lee and James Young, along with verbal pledge Dakari Johnson were chosen for the game. The five are most ever chosen for the McDonald’s All American team from one school.

On the girls’ side, Owensboro Catholic Rebecca Greenwell who’s headed to Duke and UK signee Makalya Epps of Marion County were chosen to play in the game. The McDonald’s All American games will take place in Chicago’s United Center on April 3^rd.

College Football: ESPN reports The University of Alabama has barred three football players from campus after their arrests on robbery charges. A university spokeswoman said today Eddie Williams, Tyler Hayes and DJ Pettway are suspended from school pending a judicial review expected to be done by late next week. The three have been charged in separate robberies of two students on campus early Monday morning. Court records show Williams and Hayes have admitted to the crimes.

All three players were indefinitely suspended from the football team. Teammate Brent Calloway who is also suspended indefinitely, is charged with fraudulent use of a credit card for using a debit card stolen from one of the students. He is not barred from campus.

College Baseball: There are several season openers today including former Hopkinsville High pitcher Justin Hageman getting the start for Western Kentucky as they host Bowling Green. Austin Peay opens its season hosting Iowa, Murray State is at Central Arkansas.

MLB: New York Yankees third baseman Kevin Youkilis is in damage control mode.  One day after causing a stir by saying he would be a "Red Sock for life," the infielder now says he is "proud to be a Yankee."  Youkilis told reporters Thursday at the Yankees' spring training complex that he couldn't just dismiss spending the first eight-and-a-half years of his career in Boston. 

He was traded to the White Sox last season and signed with the Yankees this winter.  Youkilis is expected to help fill the void at third base while Alex Rodriguez recovers from offseason hip surgery.

Golf: Franklin’s Kenny Perry put off surgery on his left knee until next week so he could defend his title at the Champion Tour’s ACE Group Classic in Florida, which is underway today. Perry has been hampered by torn cartilage and will have surgery next Tuesday. Paducah’s Russ Cochran is also in this week’s field.
