Christian County High School will have a new baseball coach for the 2013 season. WHOP Sports learned over the weekend that Blake Leach was terminated as coach. A statement concerning who the new coach will be for this season will be released by Christian County High School principal Mike Stevenson sometime today.

Sources tell WHOP Sports the new coach could come from within the current staff. Leach had been head coach since the 2009 season.

High School Basketball

Boys: Christian County entertains University Heights in an 8^th district game at Colonel Gym, with tip off at 7:30. The Heritage Bank pre game show airs at 7:15 on Newstalk 95.3 FM/1230 AM and online at whopam.com.

Girls: Fort Campbell goes to Russellville, Trigg County hosts Hopkins Central, Muhlenberg County at Apollo, Murray at Mayfield, Calloway County at St. Mary, Lone Oak at Ballard Memorial, Warren Central at Franklin Simpson, Warren East welcomes Caverna, Bowling Green goes to Butler County.

College Basketball-Sunday’s scores

12^th ranked Louisville rolled over 25^th ranked Marquette 70-51 behind 18 points from Russ Smith. The Cardinals improved 18-4 on the season.

Former Christian County standout Donovan Kates had 10 points and five rebounds in a starting role as Manhattan defeated St. Peters 57-49. The Jaspers improved to 7-15 on the season.

Women’s scores saw 13^th ranked Georgia defeat 8^th ranked Kentucky 75-71, Missouri upset 9^th ranked Tennessee 80-63 and Vanderbilt defeated Ole Miss 79-53.

Tonight’s games:  Austin Peay’s Lady Governors entertain Southeast Missouri in OVC action.

College Football: Kentucky received another commitment over the weekend. Niceville, Florida High School offensive lineman Nick Haynes made his pledge to Coach Mark Stoops following an official visit according to the Courier Journal. The 6-3 300 pound Haynes, who played tackle in high school, is expected to play center or guard for Kentucky. Haynes is the 20^th commitment for the 2013 class.
