Christian County High School will have a new baseball coach for the 2013 season. WHOP Sports learned over the weekend that Blake Leach was terminated as coach. A statement concerning who the new coach will be for this season will be released by Christian County High School principal Mike Stevenson sometime today. Sources tell WHOP Sports the new coach could come from within the current staff. Leach had been head coach since the 2009 season. High School Basketball Boys: Christian County entertains University Heights in an 8th district game at Colonel Gym, with tip off at 7:30. The Heritage Bank pre game show airs at 7:15 on Newstalk 95.3 FM/1230 AM and online at whopam.com. Other games this evening have Hopkinsville hosting Trigg County, Fort Campbell hosting Hopkins Central, Logan County welcomes Bowling Green, Russellville goes to Warren Central, Livingston Central takes on Union County, Lyon County hosts Webster County, Murray at Mayfield, Community Christian at Christian Fellowship, Warren East hosts Caverna. Girls: Fort Campbell goes to Russellville, Trigg County hosts Hopkins Central, Muhlenberg County at Apollo, Murray at Mayfield, Calloway County at St. Mary, Lone Oak at Ballard Memorial, Warren Central at Franklin Simpson, Warren East welcomes Caverna, Bowling Green goes to Butler County. College Basketball-Sunday’s scores 12th ranked Louisville rolled over 25th ranked Marquette 70-51 behind 18 points from Russ Smith. The Cardinals improved 18-4 on the season. Former Christian County standout Donovan Kates had 10 points and five rebounds in a starting role as Manhattan defeated St. Peters 57-49. The Jaspers improved to 7-15 on the season. Women’s scores saw 13th ranked Georgia defeat 8th ranked Kentucky 75-71, Missouri upset 9th ranked Tennessee 80-63 and Vanderbilt defeated Ole Miss 79-53. Tonight’s games: Austin Peay’s Lady Governors entertain Southeast Missouri in OVC action. A reminder Kentucky coach John Calipari’s call in show airs at 5 this evening, followed by Big Blue Weekly at 6 on Lite 98.7. Kentucky hosts South Carolina tomorrow night, with pre game coverage at 6:30 on Lite 98.7. College Football: Kentucky received another commitment over the weekend. Niceville, Florida High School offensive lineman Nick Haynes made his pledge to Coach Mark Stoops following an official visit according to the Courier Journal. The 6-3 300 pound Haynes, who played tackle in high school, is expected to play center or guard for Kentucky. Haynes is the 20th commitment for the 2013 class.
