High School Basketball: WHOP Sports has learned from Hopkinsville High athletics director Keith Kelley that tonight's Hopkinsville boys basketball game at Caldwell County has a new start time. The game will begin at 6 pm and be a varsity ONLY game. The Hopkinsville Tigers are tied for 6th with Pleasure Ridge Park in the latest Associated Press boys poll. Trinity is atop this week’s poll, with Henderson County, Graves County and Warren Central among others receiving votes. On the girls side, Marion County remains number one, Henderson County is 3rd, Bowling Green tied for 7th and Owensboro Catholic is 10th. Bluegrass Preps.com has its weekly polls out and Hopkinsville is ranked 5th in the Boys Top 20, which has Bullitt East first. Henderson County is 6th and Bowling Green is 13th in the Girls Top 20, which has Marion County number one this week. The Kentucky High School Athletic Association’s Board of Control Monday approved new alignments for 1st region basketball, baseball, softball, soccer and volleyball beginning with the 2013-14 school year. District 1 will consist of Carlisle County, Fulton City, Fulton County and Hickman County. District 2 has Ballard Memorial, Graves County and Mayfield District 3 has Community Christian, McCracken County, Paducah Tilghman and St. Mary District 4 will have Calloway County, Murray, Christian Fellowship and Marshall County. College Basketball: It’s been rumored in the works for a couple of months, but ESPN reports the SEC-Big East Challenge is being replaced next season by the SEC-Big 12 challenge. The Big East will be losing several teams in the next couple of years and the SEC says it does not want to play the remaining members. ESPN also reports the games will be home and home, much like the current ACC-Big 10 Challenge series.
