High School Basketball—Thursday’s scores

Girls: University Heights is in the championship game of the 2^nd region All A Tournament following a 59-45 win over Livingston Central. LeLe Grubbs led the Lady Blazers with 24 points and Denayia Holmes added 20. UHA is now 11-6 on the season and will face Webster County in the championship game Saturday night. Webster County defeated Caldwell County 66-34 in the other semi final game.

Elsewhere: Hopkins Central upset Hopkinsville 56-55, Dawson Springs over Whitesville Trinity 45-33, Henderson County over Madisonville 62-41, Graves County over Calloway County 47-40, Glasgow defeated Russellville 73-52 in the 4^th region All A Classic and Murray over St. Mary 66-28 in the 1^st region All A Classic.

Boys: Hopkinsville defeated Graves County 81-59. Jaqualis Matlock led the Tigers with 26, followed by Jordan Majors with 23. Hopkinsville improved to 14-4 on the season with the win.

Elsewhere: Marshall County over Lone Oak 52-45, Calloway County over Paducah Tilghman 66-63.

College Basketball

Western Kentucky defeated Louisiana’s Ragin Cajuns 72-49, Canisus defeated Manhattan 64-60 with former Christian County standout Donovan Kates scoring two points.

In the OVC: SIU-Edwardsville over Austin Peay 66-53, Murray State defeated Eastern Illinois 70-49.

Women’s scores: 5^th ranked Kentucky rolled over Mississippi State 100-47, 9^th ranked Tennessee defeated Auburn 75-66.

Hoppers Baseball: The Christian County Board of Education voted Thursday night that the Hoptown Hoppers will play their games in the 2013 season at Hopkinsville High’s Tiger Stadium. The Hoppers will begin their season in Ohio Valley League play in early June.

NFL: The Tennessean reports the Tennessee Titans have hired three new coaches, including former Mississippi State head coach Sylvester Croom. Croom will serve as Titans running backs coach, former Detroit Lions assistant Shawn Jefferson will coach receivers and former Titan assisstant George Henshaw is to coach tight ends.

Dowell Loggains had the interim title removed and is the Titans offensive coordinator. Dave Ragone was named as the new quarterbacks coach, Nate Kaczor as special teams coach and Chet Parlavecchio was named linebackers coach.

PGA Tour: Nashville’s Brandt Snedeker is tied for 29^th at five under par heading into today’s second round of the Humana Challenge. It’s a three way tie for the lead at nine under between Roberto Castro, Jason Kokrak and James Hahn, who was selling shoes at a Nordstrom store before making it to the tour.

NHL: The Nashville Predators open the 48 game regular season hosting the Columbus Blue Jackets at 7 tomorrow night in Bridgestone Arena. The Preds will then play a Monday game against St. Louis at 5 in Bridgestone Arena, which you can hear on Newstalk 95.3 FM/1230 AM.
