SPORTS UPDATE 1/7/13

Hoppers Baseball: Christian County Chamber of Commerce President and Hoptown Hoppers board member Carter Hendricks posted this morning on Facebook that a decision on where the Hoppers will play this season will be made at the next Christian County Board of Education meeting January 17th.

There’s been a lot of speculation where the defending Ohio Valley League champions will be playing this season. The inaugural season saw the team play at Christian County High School’s Colonel Field. However, there has been interest in the off season to see the games played at Hopkinsville High’s Tiger Stadium this season.

In his post, Hendricks asked all fans to gear up for where the team will play this season and expressed his gratitude to partner with CCPS to again allow the Hoppers to play at one of the local fields. Season passes are now available at the Christian County Chamber of Commerce office on Ft. Campbell Boulevard.

Also, Newstalk 95.3 FM/1230 AM WHOP will again broadcast all Hopper home games this season and all post season games home and away. Advertising packages are now available by calling (270)885-5331.

Notre Dame has taken five of the six all-time meetings between the teams,  including the 1973 Sugar Bowl, when third-ranked Notre Dame edged top-ranked Alabama, 24-23 in what was called the "Game of the Century."

College Basketball: Two top 25 games this evening have 5th ranked Indiana at Penn State in a Big 10 matchup, while 15th ranked Cincinnati hosts 19th ranked Notre Dame in a Big East showdown.
