High School Basketball

Boys: Hopkinsville defeated Madisonville 74-66 behind 20 points from Jaqualis Matlock. Other Tigers in double figures included Jordan Majors with 17 and TJ Elam with 10. Madisonville was led by Daylyn Jones with 23 points.

Other action saw Hopkins Central defeat McLean County 53-44, Livingston Central over Community Christian 53-37, Warren Central over Clinton County 72-41.

Girls: Hopkinsville edged out a 51-44 win over Madisonville behind J’Lynn Majors 11 points. Madisonville was led by Adrian Gray’s 12 points.

Other action saw Ohio County defeat Christian County 63-50, McLean County edge South Warren 56-55, Murray over Ballard Memorial 72-61.

Boys: Christian County travels to University Heights for an 8th district showdown. Tip off from Blazer Gym at 7:30, with the Heritage Bank pre game show at 7:15 on Newstalk 95.3 FM/1230 AM WHOP.

A member of Christian County’s track and field program will sign a collegiate letter today. The ceremony is scheduled for 2:30 at Christian County High School.

College Basketball

Murray State got its 600th Ohio Valley Conference win at UT Martin 73-62. Isaiah Cannan led three Racers in double figures with 18 points as Murray State improved to 10-3 and 1-0 in the OVC.

Austin Peay dropped its OVC opener for the second straight year, falling at Southeast Missouri 86-84. The Governors were led in scoring by Will Triggs with 11 points. Former Christian County player Corey Wilford had 19 points in the win for Southeast Missouri. Austin Peay is 4-11 overall and 0-1 in the OVC.

Western Kentucky saw its eight game win streak over Arkansas Little Rock end with a loss 75-67. Brandon Harris had 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Hilltoppers, now 10-6 overall and 4-1 in the Sun Belt.

Women’s scores: Western Kentucky stayed unbeaten in Sun Belt play with a 78-69 win at Arkansas Little Rock, Kentucky defeated Florida 76-69, 12th ranked Tennessee defeated 18th ranked South Carolina 73-53.

Tonight’s game: The University of Tennessee meets Memphis in a non conference game in Knoxville.
