High School Basketball

College Basketball
Kentucky rolled over Eastern Michigan 90-38 in its final non conference game Wednesday night at Rupp Arena. Alex Poythress lead the Wildcats with 16 points, followed by Ryan Harrow’s 15 and Willie Cauley-Stein had 11 points and 11 rebounds for 9-4 Kentucky, who opens SEC play next Thursday night at Vanderbilt.
Coach John Calipari has his weekly talk show at 5 this evening on Lite 98.7.
4th ranked Louisville opened Big East play with a 80-62 win over Providence. Russ Smith came off the bench to lead the Cardinals in scoring with with 23 points, Gorugi Dieng had 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Vanderbilt ended a two game losing streak with a 64-50 win over William and Mary. The win gave Coach Kevin Stallings the most wins in Memorial Gym as Vanderbilt coach.
Tonight’s games: Western Kentucky at Arkansas Little Rock for a men’s-women’s doubleheader. Other men’s games have Austin Peay at Southeast Missouri, Murray State at UT Martin.
Women’s action tonight has Kentucky opening SEC play hosting Florida, with Tennessee opening SEC action at South Carolina.
College Football
The Louisville Cardinals scored early and often to beat the Florida Gators 33-23 and win the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans. Louisville's Terell Floyd returned a 38-yard interception to the house on the opening play from scrimmage. Teddy Bridgewater threw for 266 yards, two touchdowns and an interception for the Cardinals. Jeremy Wright ran for 84 yards and a TD in the win. Both teams end the season at 11-and-2.
Western Kentucky introduced its new offensive and defensive coordinators Wednesday. Jeff Brohm will be charged with the offense, Nick Holt with the defense. Brohm served as offensive coordinator at Louisville and most recently at Alabama-Birmingham. Holt comes to the Hill from Arkansas where he was defensive coordinator last season and before that spent three seasons at the University of Washington.
