High School Baskrtball

Boys scores: Christian County won a pair of games at the Bardstown Christmas Classic Friday, defeating Fern Creek 57-55 and Valley 87-73. University Heights edeged Logan County 94-93 at the FSNB Classic.

Girls scores: North Hardin defeated Hopkinsville 43-36 and Murray High defeated University Heights at the Murray Bank Tiger Classic.

Today's games: Christian County's boys play in the championship game against Bardstown at the Bardstown Christmas Classic. Tip off at 3:30, with the Heritage Bank pre game show at 3:15 on Newstalk 95.3 FM/1230 AM WHOP and online at whopam.com.

Friday's scores: Former Christian County standout Anthony Hickey did not play in LSU's 75-58 win over Houston Baptist. Austin Peay lost to Utah Valley State 84-77 at the Dr. Pepper Classic.

Women's action saw 7th ranked Kentucky defeat Alcorn State 90-23 and 13th ranked Tennessee defeated Davidson 75-40.

Today's games: Kentucky and 4th ranked Louisville renew their rivalry at the KFC Yum Center in Louisville, with pre game coverage at 1:30 on Lite 98.7. College Football: Ohio University defeated Louisiana Monroe 45-14 in the Independence Bowl Friday, with Virginia Tech defeated Rutgers 13-10 in overtime at the Russell Athletic Bowl and Texas Tech edged Minnesota 34-31 in the Meineke Car Care Bowl.

Today's bowl action has Rice playing Air Force in the Armed Forces Bowl, West Virginia meets Syracuse in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl, Navy plays Arizona State in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl, Texas meets Oregon State in the Alamo Bowl and TCU goes against Michigan State in the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl.

NHL: The Tennessean reports the NHL has made a new offer to players that soften demands on players contract rights. The proposal also contains a cover letter calling for an abbreviated season to begin January 12th or January 19th. The two sides are to have a conference call in New York today and will likely meet face to face on Sunday.
