SPORTS UPDATE 12/21/12

High School Basketball: The Hopkinsville Tigers meet Ballard in the second round of the King of the Bluegrass tournament at Louisville Fairdale this evening. Tip off is scheduled for 8, with the Heritage Bank pre game show at 7:45 on Newstalk 95.3 FM/1230 AM and whopam.com.

Christian County is to face Montgomery County this evening at the Fort Harrod Classic, while University Heights is at Fleming County.

Girls action includes University Heights meeting Highlands in the Queen of the Bluegrass Classic at DuPont Manual in Louisville.

College Football: The Knoxville News Sentinel reported this morning that University of Tennessee quarterback Tyler Bray is foregoing his senior year to enter the NFL Draft. Bray put up big numbers in his junior year, completing 268 of 451 passes for 3,612 yards and 34 touchdowns along with 12 interceptions. Bray becomes the third Volunteer this week to announce his intentions to enter the NFL draft.

There’s one bowl game tonight as Central Florida meets Ball State in the Beef O’ Brady’s Bowl in St. Petersburg, FL.

College Basketball: Tennessee hosts Western Carolina, while Vanderbilt plays Middle Tennessee at Bridgestone Arena. Top 25 action ahs 6th ranked Indiana hosting Florida Atlantic and 22nd rated Notre Dame going against Niagara.

Women’s action has Kentucky at UC Santa Barbara, with air time at 4:45 on Newstalk 95.3 FM/1230 AM WHOP. Other games have Western Kentucky hosting Florida A&M, while Austin Peay entertains Lipscomb.

After a week of “Camp Cal”, the Kentucky Wildcats are back in action tomorrow afternoon hosting Marshall, with pre game coverage at 1:30 on Lite 98.7.
