Girls: University Heights rolled over Hopkins Central 65-50, Caldwell County defeated Fort Campbell 70-61 in overtime, Dawson Springs over Trigg County 52-39, Lone Oak over Union County 57-49, Paducah Tilghman over Graves County 67-51, Carlisle County over Lyon County 50-42, Webster County over Crittenden County 62-13, Owensboro over South Warren 61-57.

Boys: Warren East over Todd Central 83-70, Madisonville defeated Trigg County 63-56, Ohio County over South Warren 65-39, Murray edged Ballard Memorial 58-54, Union County over Lone Oak 51-39, Graves County drubbed Paducah Tilghman 65-45, Henry County, TN nipped Calloway County 44-40, Crittenden County slid by Webster County 41-40.

Tonight’s games: Hopkinsville opens play in the King of the Bluegrass tournament at Louisville Fairdale. The Tigers meet Collins High in their opening game at 3:30 this afternoon. Apollo is also in the tournament and faces host Fairdale this evening.

College Basketball: Virginia Commonwealth rolled over Western Kentucky 76-44, with no Hilltopper scoring in double figures. Lipscomb used a 15-0 run in the last 8 minutes to defeat Austin Peay 87-84 and Tennessee cruised to a 78-62 win over Presbyterian. Former Christian County standout Anthony Hickey had 10 points off the bench as LSU defeated UC Irvine 66-60.

Women’s scores: Third ranked Baylor routed 10^th rated Tennessee 76-53, Kentucky defeated Pepperdine 80-62.

Tonight’s games: Father meets son as Rick Pitino’s 5^th ranked Louisville Cardinals host son Richard Pitino’s Golden Panthers of Florida International. Murray State is also in action this evening at Arkansas State.

Women’s action has Western Kentucky at Wright State.

Louisville coach Rick Pitino tells the Courier Journal Gorgui Dieng will likely not return to the Cardinals until sometime in January. Pitino said he was hopeful Dieng’s left wrist would be healed where he could play against Western Kentucky Saturday in Nashville, but now it appears it will be January 2^nd when the Cards play Providence before Dieng can return. Dieng suffered the broken wrist in a game against Missouri in the Battle 4 Atlantis earlier this season.

College Football: Former Bowling Green High and current Army quarterback Trent Steelman has been invited to play in the 2013 East-West Shrine game. Former NFL coaches Leeman Bennett and Jerry Glanville will coach the teams. The game will take place January 19^th at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, FL.

Kentucky’s new offensive coordinator Neal Brown met with the media for the first time Tuesday. Brown said he plans into install an up tempo passing attack and says it can be done quickly. Brown has spent the last three seasons as offensive coordinator at Texas Tech, where his offense was ranked in the top 15 nationally each season.
