College Basketball:   As the NCAA celebrates the 75^th anniversary of March Madness next year, several University of Kentucky players, teams and moments have made several lists.

The Lexington Herald Leader reports starting in January, fans can vote on lists for best players, top teams and best moments.

Kentucky’s Anthony Davis, Tony Delk, Dan Issel and Jack Givens made the players list. Best moments involving Kentucky include the 1992 loss to Duke, and the 1966 game which Texas Western defeated the Wildcats.

The best teams include UK’s 2011-12 team that went 38-2 and the 1995-96 team that went 34-2. Both won national championships.

ESPN reports the seven basketball only members of the Big East Conference met Sunday with league commissioner Mike Aresco, expressing their concern on the current direction of the conference. The seven schools wanted to have lots of dialogue to determine best course of action of the future.

No decision was made on what future action to take. However, reports indicate those seven schools—Marquette, DePaul, St. John’s, Providence, Georgetown, Seton Hall and Villanova, may want to split away from the football members and form their own league.

As LSU gets set to face Chattanooga this evening, it does so without former Christian County standout Anthony Hickey who was suspended for violation of team rules and university policies late last week. Coach Johnny Jones tells the Baton Rouge Advocate Hickey is still enrolled at LSU and is part of the basketball program. Jones says Hickey’s future status with the Tigers will be determined some time later this week.

NFL: Tennessee Titans coach Mike Munchak says winning the remaining games of the season is the team goal. The Titans blew a 20-7 halftime lead against Indianapolis Sunday in losing for the fifth time in six games. Munchak said Monday he has not talked in a couple of weeks to owner Bud Adams, who put everyone on the Titans staff on notice a month ago that he wanted improvement.

Munchak insists he sees a team improving with the makings of something special, though the Titans have yet to prove it on the field. Tennessee hosts the New York Jets Monday night at LP Field.
