High School Basketball
Boys: Webster County defeated Fort Campbell 61-46, Caldwell County squeezed by Hopkins Central 52-48, Henderson County over Muhlenberg County 82-65, Community Christian defeated Livingston Central 45-38.
Girls: Ohio County defeated Warren Central 48-41, Bowling Green over Russell County 75-63, Muhlenberg County over McLean County 57-54, Livingston Central defeated Community Christian 60-48, Webster County over Graves County 63-48.
Girls: University Heights hosts Hopkinsville in an early season 8th district matchup at Blazer Gym. UHA leads the district with a 1-0 mark, while it’s the first district game of the season for Hoptown. Tipoff at 7:30, with the Heritage Bank pre game show at 7:15 on News/Talk 95.3 FM-1230 AM WHOP and whopam.com.

Vanderbilt had to go to overtime to defeat Xavier 66-64. The Commodores got 25 points from Kyle Fuller, including all 12 in the overtime period to get the win. Vanderbilt is now 3-4 on the season.
Women’s scores: Western Kentucky rolled over Morehead State 62-38 and Murray State trounced Mid Continent 110-28 for its 6th straight win. Former Hopkinsville Lady Tiger Christy Soldo had 2 points in four minutes playing time.
Tonight’s action includes former Christian County standout Donovan Kates and Manhattan playing at Marist.
Former UK All American and current radio analyst Mike Pratt was the featured speaker of the Christian County UK alumni club’s annual bar-b-q dinner last night. Pratt says this group of freshman Wildcats will continue to go through some growing pains, but will make strides before season’s end.
Kentucky returns to action tomorrow taking on Portland in Rupp Arena, with pre game coverage at 9:30 am on Lite 98.7.
The University of Kentucky officially announced Thursday DJ Eliot as Mark Stoops defensive coordinator and linebackers coach. Eliot comes to Lexington from Florida State where he worked under Stoops.
The plot is thickening on who will be Tennessee’s next coach after the Vols were rejected by Louisville’s Charlie Strong on Thursday. Cincinnati’s Butch Jones, who spurned Colorado earlier this week, is the new front runner to lead the charges in Knoxville.
Louisville announced a new contract extension for Charlie Strong after his announcement Thursday that he would remain as Cardinals coach. Athletics director Tom Jurich said at a news conference although a final deal was not in place, he hoped he could extend Strong’s contract through 2020 at a salary equal to a coach at a top 10 school.
