College Football:   Charlie Strong’s right time to decide on his future came this morning and he said he was staying as coach at the University of Louisville.

Strong said declining the offer to become head coach at the University of Tennessee was the toughest decision he has made in his 29 years of coaching. In three seasons, Strong is 24-14 as U of L coach, leading the Cards to a 10-2 record this season, a share of the Big East title and a berth in the Sugar Bowl against Florida January 2^nd in New Orleans.

Mark Stoops is continuing to assemble his new staff at Kentucky, with the Lexington Herald Leader reporting that three schools, Louisiana Tech, Southern Miss and Arkansas State expressing interest in current Texas Tech offensive coordinator Neal Brown for their head coaching vacancies.

Brown, a former UK receiver, met this week with Stoops about becoming UK’s offensive coordinator. Sources say Brown remains very interested in coming to Lexington, but there are some sticking points to still be worked out.

Meanwhile, an announcement could come today officially from UK that Florida State assistant DJ Eliot will become the new defensive coordinator.

Arkansas State has named an interim coach for its appearance in the GoDaddy.com Bowl. Defensive coordinator John Thompson will coach against Kent State next month. Gus Malzahn, who had been ASU’s coach, resigned earlier this week to take the head coaching vacancy at Auburn. Arkansas State won this season’s Sun Belt Conference championship.

College Basketball: Top 25 games tonight have 4^th ranked Syracuse meeting Long Beach State, 12^th rated Cincinnati goes against Arkansas Little Rock, 13^th ranked Creighton meets Nebraska and 19^th ranked San Diego State hosts UC Santa Barbara.
