WVLT-TV in Knoxville is reported on its website that former Tampa Bay and Oakland coach and current ESPN NFL analyst Jon Gruden has turned down an offer to become the University of Tennessee's next football coach. According to a source, Gruden informed the school today after talking with his family, he has decided to take his name out of consideration to replace Derek Dooley. Earlier today, a report in the Chattanooga Times Free Press indicated a deal was still be negotiated, however, if funding could not be made available for the assistants Gruden wanted to hire, the deal was off the table.
