College Football: Despite some reports to the contraire, Lexington Herald Leader columnist John Clay is reporting both Florida State defensive coordinator Mark Stoops and San Jose State head coach Mike MacIntyre are still strong candidates for the coaching vacancy at Kentucky. Some media outlets have reported that neither Stoops nor MacIntyre are still in the running to replace Joker Phillips. College Basketball: Louisville center Gorgui Dieng will have a screw inserted into his left scaphold bone today. Dieng injured his non shooting wrist in last Friday’s game against Missouri and will miss four to six weeks. Coach Rick Pitino is hopeful Dieng will return when Louisville begins Big East play in January. Top ranked Indiana faces 14th ranked North Carolina as part of the Big 10-ACC challenge this evening. Other Top 25 games have 3rd rated Michigan hosting 18th ranked North Carolina State and 19th ranked Colorado hosts Texas Southern. High School Basketball: When Hopkinsville faces Bullitt East in Saturday’s game at the Marshall County Hoopfest, UK signee Derek Willis will not be playing for the Chargers. Multiple media outlets reported Willis was ejected from last night’s season opener against Lafayette for disagreeing with an official about a lack of foul calls. Willis will miss the next two games.
