High School Football Four regional teams remain alive as the Commonwealth Gridiron Bowl moves to week 4 tonight. Class A: Mayfield travels to Beechwood Class 2A: Caldwell County at DeSales Class 4A: Warren East goes to Collins Class 5A: Bowling Green plays at John Hardin Catch up on these and other scores on the Kentucky High School scoreboard show tonight at 9:06 on Newstalk 95.3 FM/1230 AM WHOP. College Basketball Vanderbilt and Louisville were both in tournament action on Thanksgiving Day. The second ranked Cardinals held off Northern Iowa 51-46 in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament in the Bahamas. Russ Smith led the Cards with 16 points including the decisive three point play with 5.1 seconds left. The 4-0 Cards meet Missouri today in the semi finals. Vanderbilt found the going tough in the Old Spice Classic in Orlando, falling to Davidson 75-62. Kedren Johnson had a career high 28 points in the loss for the Commodores now 1-2 on the season. Vanderbilt plays Marist today. Tonight’s games: 8th ranked Kentucky hosts Long Island University in Rupp Arena. The Wildcats come in off a win over Morehead State Wednesday night. Coverage of the game begins at 4:30 on Lite 98.7. Women’s games: Austin Peay’s Lady Governors open play this evening in the UTSA tournament in San Antonio against host Texas San Antonio. The Lexington Herald Leader reports Morehead State is considering disciplinary action against coach Sean Woods following his actions towards a player in Wednesday night’s loss to Kentucky. Reports indicated Woods shoved guard Devon Atkinson when he fouled out of the 81-70 loss to the Wildcats. A Morehead official says the incident is being handled internally and any disciplinary action would be likely announced sometime today. College Football: There’s nothing more than pride to play for tomorrow as Kentucky closes out the season at Tennessee. If the Wildcats can win, it would be the first time since 1976 and 1977 that UK has won back to back meetings with Tennessee. Joker Phillips coaches his final game at Kentucky, while Jim Chaney gets a one game deal following the firing of Tennessee’s Derek Dooley earlier this week.
