SPORTS UPDATE 11/12/12

College Basketball: Several top 25 teams are in action this evening including top ranked Indiana hosting North Dakota State and 5th rated Michigan hosting IUPUI.

Women’s action includes Murray State hosting Indiana.

Kentucky returns to action tomorrow night playing Duke at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, with pre game coverage at 7 on Lite 98.7.  

College Football: It appears former Arkansas and Louisville coach Bobby Petrino has a couple of major backers supporting him for the soon to be vacant position at Kentucky.  

The Lexington Herald Leader reports former UK basketball coach Joe B. Hall and his son in law Mike Summers, who worked with Petrino as his offensive line coach at Louisville and Arkansas, along with the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons are endorsing him for the job.

A reminder the current UK coach Joker Phillips has his call in show at 5 this evening, with Big Blue Weekly at 6 on Lite 98.7.

Louisville will be without running back Senorise Perry for the rest of the seson.  Perry tore an ACL in Saturday's 45-26 loss at Syracuse.  Perry rushed for 705 yards and 11 touchdowns for the 20th ranked Cardinals.  Louisville is idle this week, before facing Connecticut November 24th.

NBA: The Los Angeles Lakers have officially hired former Phoenix Suns and New York Knicks coach Mike D’ Antoni to replace the fired Mike Brown. According to ESPN, D’ Antoni will receive a three year deal worth $12 million, with an option for a fourth season.

It had been widely speculated over the weekend that former Lakers coach Phil Jackson would return to the bench, however he was not offered the job.
