Two playoff games are scheduled today in Major League Baseball. In the National League, St. Louis hosts Washington in game two of their National League Division Series. The Cardinals trail 1-0. First pitch is slated for just after 3:30 in Busch Stadium. The New York Yankees are in Baltimore for game two of their American League Division Series this evening, with the Yankees leading the series 1-0. The Colorado Rockies will begin the search for a new manager following Jim Tracy’s resignation Sunday. Tracy had been on the job since being promoted from bench coach in May 2009. Tracy led the Rockies to a franchise worse mark of 64-98 this season after leading the Rockies to a franchise best 92-70 record in 2009. Golf Channel reports on its website following the American loss at the Ryder Cup, Tiger Woods talked privately with Keegan Bradley, Brandt Snedeker and Webb Simpson and apologized to them for not earning enough points for the US to win at Medinah. The Americans lost to Europe 14 ½ to 13 ½. It appears more talks are scheduled in the National Hockey League labor strike this week. The league and player’s association will finalize this week’s meetings sometime today. NBC Sports reports the two sides will meet to discuss a new collective bargaining agreement either Wednesday or Thursday. Thursday was to be the start of the new NHL season, however the league has cancelled games through October 24th. |
