Monday’s High School Sports Schedule
District tournament action begins today in both soccer and volleyball.
Volleyball
8th district at University Heights: Christian County meets Fort Campbell at 6, followed by Hopkinsville and University Heights.
7th district at Madisonville: Hopkins Central meets Madisonville at 6, with the winner to play Caldwell County following the first game.
5th district at Trigg County: Livingston Central meets Crittenden County at 6, with the winner to play Trigg County following the first game.
Boys Soccer
7th district at Caldwell County: Madisonville meets Hopkins Central
13th district at Logan County: Todd Central at Logan County
Girls Soccer
8th district at University Heights: Hopkinsville meets Fort Campbell at 5:30, with Christian County and University Heights in the second game.
7th district at Caldwell County: Caldwell County meets Hopkins Central
6th district at Henderson County: Union County meets Webster County
5th district at Lyon County: Lyon County meets Crittenden County
High School Football: Trinity has bolted to the top of the Cantrall rankings on Kentucky.com. Bowling Green fell from first to fourth, Warren Central is 7th, Mayfield 12th, Henderson County 16th and Christian County is 17th.
Weekend wrap: Former Hopkinsville High golfer Dayton Jones was medalist at the Danville, IL invitational which concluded Sunday. Jones had a two day total of 145 to win the tournament by a stroke, while his collegiate team Rend Lake finished third in the event.
Heritage Christian Academy defeated Micah Christian in volleyball action Saturday 3 sets to 1. The Lady Warriors improved to 15-5 on the season and host Pleasant View, TN today.
College Football: Kentucky coach Joker Phillips has his weekly call in show at 5 this evening, with Big Blue Weekly at 6 on Lite 98.7.
Murray State quarterback Casey Brockman was named the Ohio Valley Conference offensive player of the week Sunday. Brockman was 38-43 for 455 yards and 5 touchdowns in the Racers 52-14 win at Austin Peay. Brockman also became the OVC’s all time leader in pass completions with 793 and became Murray State’s all time leader in touchdown passes with 55.
NFL: The Tennessee Titans fell to 1-4 on the season following a 30-7 loss at Minnesota Sunday. The Titans have allowed 30 points or more to their opponents in all five games this season. It’s a short week for the Titans as they host Pittsburgh Thursday night at LP Field.
Monday Night Football has Houston at the New York Jets, with pre game coverage at 7 this evening on Newstalk 95.3 FM/1230 AM WHOP.
