Kentucky Sports Radio.com reports Kentucky has picked up its 14^th football commitment for 2013. Ander Bodkin, a 6-5 285 pound offensive lineman from Marianna, Florida made his decision last night. He is the fourth offensive lineman to commit to the Wildcats for next season.

The Bowling Green Daily News reports Western Kentucky quarterback Kawaun Jakes received good news Tuesday.  An MRI revealed no ligament damage to his left knee, in which he hurt in the first half of the Hilltoppers game at Arkansas State last Saturday.  Jakes was back in practice Tuesday, but was limited to individual workouts.  If Jakes cannot play at Troy October 11th, coach Willie Taggart says backup James Mauro, who led the Toppers to the come from behind win against Arkansas State will start.

The Tennessean, citing a report from a Finnish hockey website, says Nashville Predators forward Craig Smith has signed a contract to play with a Finnish professional team until Christmas. Smith is the fourth Predators player to sign a contract with an European team, joining teammates Roman Josi, Patric Hornqvist and Pekka Rinne.

Smith will begin his second year as a Predator when the NHL season resumes, however, talks are at a standstill right now.

The Tennessean reports Belmont University basketball coach Rick Byrd has been selected as one of the 2013 inductees to the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame. Byrd is currently eighth among active NCAA Division One coaches with 637 wins. The Bruins will begin play in the Ohio Valley Conference this season.

Other inductees in the 2013 class include former Tennessee Titan Frank Wycheck, and former University of Memphis and NBA standout Anfernee “Penny” Hardaway. The induction ceremony will be held next May.
