Monday’s High School Sports Schedule Volleyball: Hopkinsville hosts Trigg County, University Heights at Russellville, Hopkins Central hosts McLean County. Boys Soccer: University Heights hosts Fort Campbell, Hopkinsville at Trigg County, Caldwell County at Calloway County, Hopkins Central hosts Owensboro Catholic, Muhlenberg County at Butler County. Girls Soccer: Christian County hosts Franklin Simpson, Todd Central at Warren Central, Madisonville hosts Union County, Henderson County entertains Apollo. 8th district volleyball/soccer tournament Pairings for the 8th district volleyball and soccer tournaments were announced Sunday at University Heights Academy. The volleyball tournament will begin October 8th with Christian County meeting Fort Campbell at 6 pm, with Hopkinsville meeting host UHA at 7:30. The championship game will be held October 9th at 7 pm. The girls soccer tournament will begin October 8th with Hopkinsville meeting Fort Campbell at 5:30, with Christian County and University Heights at approximately 7:15. The championship game is scheduled for October 10th at 6 pm. The boys soccer tournament is slated to begin October 9th with Hopkinsville meeting Christian County at 5:30, with University Heights and Fort Campbell at 7:15. The championship game is scheduled for October 10th at 8 pm. High School Football: Highlands and Bowling Green remain numbers one and two in the Cantrall rankings from Kentucky.com. Warren Central is 5th this week, with Mayfield 10th, Henderson County 14th and Christian County ranked 16th. College Football: Kentucky coach Joker Phillips has his weekly call in show at 5 this evening, followed by Big Blue Weekly at 6 on Lite 98.7. Following a 38-17 loss to South Carolina Saturday, Kentucky returns to action this week hosting Mississippi State. Kickoff is just after 11 Saturday morning, with pre game coverage at 9:30 on Lite 98.7. The Courier Journal reports Kentucky has received another football commitment for 2013. Tight end Darren Dowdell of Grady High School in Atlanta made his decision following an unofficial visit to Lexington this weekend. Dowdell is the 13th commitment for the 2013 class. Murray State running back Jammal Berry was named the Ohio Valley Conference newcomer of the week following the Racers 70-35 win over Tennessee Tech Saturday. The former Ohio State running back ran for 142 yards in 13 carries and scored a touchdown. It was the second time Berry had been named newcomer of the week this season. NFL: The Tennessee Titans lost at Houston Sunday 38-14 and also lost quarterback Jake Locker as he reinjured his non throwing shoulder in the first quarter. The Titans play at the Minnesota Vikings next Sunday at noon. Monday Night Football has the Chicago Bears at Dallas, with coverage at 7 this evening on Newstalk 95.3 FM/1230 AM WHOP.
