Christian County and Hopkinsville both return to district action this evening.

The Colonels bring a 5-1/1-0 district record into a home game with Ohio County, who brings a 3-2 record into the game and is playing its first district contest. Kickoff at 7 in the Stadium of Champions, with the Heritage Bank pre game show at 6:35 on Newstalk 95.3 FM/1230 AM WHOP and worldwide at whopam.com.

Meanwhile, Hopkinsville takes its 1-4/0-1 district record to Apollo to face an Eagle team that is also 1-4/0-1 in district competition. Kickoff from Owensboro at 7, with the Heritage Bank pre game show at 6:35 on Lite 98.7 and worldwide at lite987whop.com.

Elsewhere this evening: Fort Campbell hosts Paducah Tilghman, Trigg County at Webster County, Todd Central goes to Owensboro Catholic, Caldwell County hosts Reidland, Russellville travels to Fulton County and Logan County at Bowling Green.

Regional action has Hopkins Central hosting Calloway County, Crittenden County is at Marshall County, Murray welcomes Ballard Memorial, Lone Oak goes to Owensboro, Greenwood hosts Barren County, Warren Central entertains Ballard, Franklin Simpson at Warren East, Graves County at Muhlenberg County, Mayfield at Fulton City.

Thursday’s High School Sports Results

Volleyball: Christian County defeated University Heights 3 sets to none, Caldwell County over Murray 2-0, Hopkins Central over Webster County 3-0.

Boys Soccer: University Heights over Caldwell County 7-3, Trigg County shut out Christian County 4-0, Henderson County edged Apollo 3-2.

Girls Soccer:   Madisonville defeated Hopkinsville 6-2, Todd Central slid by Christian County 1-0, Caldwell County defeated University Heights 4-3, Trigg County shut out Hopkins Central 7-0.

College Football:   Kentucky looks for its first Southeastern Conference win as they host South Carolina tomorrow. Kentucky quarterback Maxwell Smith has been cleared to play in the game, with pre game coverage at 4:30 on Lite 98.7.

Other SEC games have Tennessee at Georgia and Vanderbilt travels to Missouri.

Western Kentucky opens Sun Belt Conference action tomorrow at Arkansas State, Louisville plays at Southern Miss and in the Ohio Valley Conference, Austin Peay is at Eastern Illinois, while Murray State hosts Tennessee Tech.

Also tomorrow, a Big 10 matchup has Ohio State taking on Michigan State in a game you can hear at 2 on Newstalk 95.3 FM/1230 AM WHOP.

The Tennesseean reports former University of Tennessee women’s basketball media relations director Debby Jennings has sued the school and athletics director Dave Hart. The suit claims age and sex discrimination forced her to retire from the job she held for 35 years.  The suit also alleges Hart forced former women’s basketball coach Pat Summitt to step down after last season. Summitt indicated in an April news conference the decision to retire was her own.
