College Football: Kentucky coach Joker Phillips has his weekly call in show at 5 this evening, followed by Big Blue Weekly at 6 on Lite 98.7.
Kentucky’s 38-0 shutout loss to Florida is one of five in the Southeastern Conference so far this season. Last year, there were only six shutouts for the entire season.
For the second time in as many weeks, former Fort Campbell standout Antonio Andrews has been named the Sun Belt Conference offensive player of the week. Andrews had a career high 136 yards in Western Kentucky’s 42-17 win over Southern Miss.
Andrews finished the night with 211 all purpose yards, the third time in four weeks he has surpassed the 200 yard plateau. College Sports Madness also named Andrews its Sun Belt offensive player of the week for the second time this season.
University of Louisville defensive tackle Adrian Bushell has been named the Big East Conference defensive player of the week. Bushell had seven tackles in the Cards win at Florida International.
College Basketball: The Lexington Herald Leader reports Rice University transfer Arsalan Kazemi has chosen Oregon. The Iranian born Kazemi had been considering Kentucky as one of his choices. Kazemi will apply for a hardship waiver in hopes of playing this season.
Nashville native Brandt Snedeker will not get a lot of time to enjoy the victory at the Tour Championship Sunday, as he heads to Chicago to play for the American team in the Ryder Cup later this week. Snedeker was a captain’s pick by American captain Davis Love III.
