Sunday’s High School scoreboard Boys Soccer: Hopkinsville won the championship of the Boots and Butts Classic at the Stadium of Champions, defeating sixth ranked Tates Creek 4-1. Barren County defeated Christian County 3-2 in a game decided on penalty kicks. Today’s schedule Volleyball: University Heights welcomes Union County, Fort Campbell goes to Webster County, Russellville at Warren East, Trigg County at Ballard Memorial, Hopkins Central entertains Henderson County, Madisonville welcomes Muhlenberg County. Boys Soccer: University Heights at Trigg County, Christian County hosts Fort Campbell, Logan County hosts Lyon County, Dawson Springs at Muhlenberg County, Henderson County hosts Union County. Girls Soccer: Christian County hosts Fort Campbell, Todd Central welcomes Muhlenberg County, Caldwell County hosts Hopkins Central, Henderson County at Union County, Calloway County at Murray. High School Football: The weekly Cantrall rankings have been released in today’s Lexington Herald Leader. Highlands remains first, Bowling Green second, Warren Central is seventh, Mayfield 10th, Henderson County 13th, Christian County is 19th this week. District play begins for Christian County and Hopkinsville Friday night as the two teams meet each other Friday night at the Stadium of Champions. Kickoff at 7, with the Heritage Bank pre game show at 6:35 on Lite 98.7 for the Christian County version while the Hopkinsville version airs on Newstalk 95.3 FM/1230 AM WHOP. College Football: Kentucky coach Joker Phillips has his weekly call in show at 5 this evening on Lite 98.7, while Big Blue Weekly airs at 6. After losing to in state rival Western Kentucky 32-31 in overtime Saturday, the Wildcats open SEC play at Florida this Saturday, with pre game coverage at 9:30 on Lite 98.7. Speaking of the Hilltoppers, they face Southern Missisippi Saturday night in Bowling Green. Two Murray State players have been honored by the Ohio Valley Conference for their play in the Racers 28-23 win over Missouri State. Brandon Wicks has been named the OVC defensive player of the week. Wicks had 10 tackles and an interception which ended the game. Jamal Berry was named the Newcomer of the Week. The former Ohio State running back had eight carries for 41 yards and caught four passes for 44 yards including the game winning touchdown. Alabama and LSU are back as 1-2 in the major college football polls this week. Louisville dropped a spot to number 20 in the Associated Press poll after barely defeating North Carolina. The Cards are 18th in the USA Today Coaches poll, with Western Kentucky receiving three votes this week. NFL: Philip Rivers passed for 284 yards, three scores and an interception as the San Diego Chargers toppled the TennesseeTitans, 38-10. Jake Locker threw for 174 yards, a TD and an interception for Tennessee, which dropped to 0-and-2. Chris Johnson ran for 17 yards on eight carries in defeat. The Titans host the Detroit Lions at noon next Sunday at LP Field. Monday Night Football tonight has the Denver Broncos in Atlanta to meet the Falcons.
