SPORTS HEADLINES 9/12/12

Previews of Hopkinsville’s football game with Allen County Scottsville and Christian County’s game with Fort Campbell along with a visit with Hopkinsville boys soccer coach Tyler Stallons will be part of this evening’s show.

Tuesday’s High School Sports Results:

Volleyball:   Hopkinsville defeated University Heights 3 sets to none, Warren East defeated Todd Central 2-1, Caldwell County over Paducah Tilghman 2-0.

Boys Soccer: Christian County and Caldwell County played to a 2-2 tie, University Heights over Hopkins Central 10-0, Calloway County over Fort Campbell 3-0, Henderson County defeated Madisonville 3-0.

Girls Soccer: Hopkinsville over Ohio County 8-2, Fort Campbell shut out Todd Central 4-0, Trigg County slid by Crittenden County 1-0, Caldwell County over Dawson Springs 3-0, Muhlenberg County edged Webster County 2-1.

Golf: University Heights played Muhlenberg County in a boys match Tuesday. The Mustangs won 170-176. UHA was led by Tadd Switzer with 40.

The Lady Blazers played at Madisonville and lost 83-100. Anna Moore led UHA with a 39.

High School Football:   Bluegrass Preps.com has released its weekly polls.

Class 5-A: Bowling Green is number one, Warren Central 3rd, Christian County 7th and Graves County 9th.

Class 3-A: Central is first, Paducah Tilghman 4th, Fort Campbell 6th.

Class 4-A: Highlands is number one this week, with Lone Oak 6th.

Class 2-A: Somerset is on top, with Owensboro Catholic 2nd and Murray High 6th.

Class A:     Mayfield is number one, with Russellville 6th.

Class 6-A: Trinity first and Henderson County 10th.

College Golf:   Former Caldwell County standout Emma Talley led top ranked Alabama to an 8th place finish Tuesday at the Cougar Classic golf tournament in Charleston SC. Talley had three level par rounds of 72 for a 216 total. Talley who finished 14th individually, was the top finisher for Alabama.

NFL: The Tennessee Titans have waived two players so wide receiver Kenny Britt can return to the roster following his one game suspension by the NFL. Britt is expected to play Sunday at San Diego. Meanwhile, quarterback Jake Locker is expected to play Sunday after suffering a slight injury to his non throwing left shoulder. Locker and Matt Hasselbeck are expected to split work when the team practices today.
