Kentucky has lost one of its great ambassadors for high school sports. Former KHSAA commissioner Louis Stout died of a brief illness Sunday at the age of 73. Stout worked for the KHSAA for 30 plus years, serving as commissioner from 1994-2002 and was the first African American to be named as head of a state high school athletics association.

Current KHSAA commissioner Julian Tackett issued a statement Sunday saying Stout was a pioneer and had a unique vision that continued the KHSAA on the course to the organization they are today. Tackett also said he lost a dear friend, colleague and mentor.

Volleyball:   Hopkinsville hosts Crittenden County, University Heights goes to Trigg County, Todd Central welcomes Fort Campbell, Russellville goes to Allen County Scottsville, Madisonville at Union County, Hopkins Central at Webster County.

Boys Soccer: Hopkinsville travels to Lyon County, Todd Central at Fort Campbell, Trigg County at Mayfield, Logan County hosts Muhlenberg County, Caldwell County hosts Ballard Memorial.

Girls Soccer: Hopkinsville welcomes Paducah Tilghman, University Heights travels to Hopkins Central, Caldwell County welcomes Ballard Memorial, Trigg County goes to Mayfield, Madisonville entertains Ohio County.

High School Football:   The weekly Cantrall rankings have been posted by the Lexington Herald Leader. Highlands is first this week, with Bowling Green second, Warren Central fifth, Mayfield 10^th, Henderson County 14^th, Christian County 21^st.

College Football:   Following a home opening win over Kent State Saturday, Kentucky begins its preparations for Western Kentucky, who lost to top ranked Alabama Saturday. Coach Joker Phillips has his weekly call in show at 5 this evening, followed by Big Blue Weekly at 6 on Lite 98.7.

The Louisville Cardinals are ranked 19^th in the AP Top 25 and 20^th in the USA Today coaches poll after a win over Missouri State. The Cards host North Carolina Saturday.

Austin Peay will begin Ohio Valley Conference play this Saturday at Tennessee State, while Murray State takes on Missouri State.

Following a home opening win over Georgia State, the Tennessee Vols returned to the Associated Press poll for the first time since 2008 coming in at number 23 this week. The Volunteers open SEC play Saturday hosting 8^th ranked Florida.

Vanderbilt is back in action this week taking on Presbyterian College, after falling at Northwestern last week.

College Basketball:   West Kentucky Star.com reports Murray State guard Zay Jackson is accused of hitting two people with his car in a Walmart parking lot Sunday afternoon. Authorities say the 20 year old sophomore caused minor injuries to the victims in the incident which occurred around 4 pm. Jackson is charged with two counts of first degree assault and is being held in the Calloway County jail, with arraignment scheduled for this morning.

NFL: It was a tough start for the Tennessee Titans Sunday as they fell in their season opener to New England 34-13. Jake Locker was somewhat impressive in his debut, 23-32 for 229 yards with a touchdown and an interception. However, the ground game was non existent as the Titans rushed for just 55 yards in the contest. The Titans are back in action next Sunday at San Diego.

Monday Night Football has two games on the schedule tonight, with Cincinnati meeting Baltimore in the early game which you can hear at 5:30 on Newstalk 95.3 FM/1230 AM WHOP. The late game has San Diego going against Oakland.
