There’s a full slate of games on tap this evening in Western Kentucky.

The Christian County Colonels look to get back on the winning ways after losing to Henderson County in double overtime last week as Lone Oak comes to the Stadium of Champions. Kickoff is at 7, with the Heritage Bank pre game show at 6:35 on Newstalk 95.3 FM/1230 AM WHOP and worldwide at whopam.com.

The Hopkinsville Tigers seek their first win of the season as they head to Madisonville this evening to meet a Maroon team who is also winless on the 2012 season. Kickoff at 7 from Maroon Stadium, with the Heritage Bank pre game show at 6:35 on Lite 98.7 and worldwide at lite987whop.com.

Elsewhere this evening: Fort Campbell travels to Fort Knox for the Army Bowl, Caldwell County hosts Trigg County, Russellville at South Warren, Logan County at Metcalfe County, Hopkins Central at Ohio County, Murray welcomes Mayfield, Graves County at Paducah Tilghman.

Thursday’s High School Sports Results

Golf: Christian County lost to Trigg County and Caldwell County Thursday at Boots Randolph Golf Course at Lake Barkley. Logan Patterson led Christian County with a 42.

Hopkinsville finished second in a five team match at Central City Thursday. The Tigers 153 score was two strokes behind winner and host Muhlenberg County’s 151. Jack Gardner led Hopkinsville with a 36.

Boys Soccer: Hopkinsville defeated Christian County 1-0 in a weather shortened game, Fort Campbell edged University Heights 3-2 in overtime, Trigg County shut out Reidland 5-0, Todd Central over Logan County 3-1.

Girls Soccer: Caldwell County shutout Christian County 3-0, Rossview defeated Hopkinsville 2-1 in a weather shortened game, University Heights lost at Ohio County 6-0, Calloway County over Trigg County 9-1, Todd Central defeated Dawson Springs 4-2, Madisonville over Webster County 10-1, Hopkins Central over Crittenden County 5-1.

Volleyball:   Hopkinsville defeated Fort Campbell 3-1, University Heights defeated Hopkins Central 3-2, Muhlenberg County defeated Todd Central 2-0, Trigg County defeated Livingston Central 3-0, Logan County over Franklin Simpson 2-0, Apollo over Madisonville 3-0.

Today’s game: Dawson Springs meets Lyon County in boys soccer.

College Football:   The Kentucky Wildcats play their home opener against Kent State Saturday night at 6:30, with pre game coverage at 5 on Lite 98.7.

23rd ranked Louisville plays Missouri State, Western Kentucky travels to top ranked Alabama, with Tennessee meeting Georgia State in its home opener and Vanderbilt going against Northwestern.

Ohio Valley Conference action tomorrow includes Austin Peay playing its second FBS game in a row at Virginia Tech and Murray State plays its home opener against Central Arkansas.

The LSU Tigers meet Washington tomorrow in a game you can hear on Newstalk 95.3 FM/1230 AM WHOP with pre game at 5:30.

College Basketball:   Texas Tech and former Kentucky coach Billy Gillispie was released from the hospital yesterday after being admitted six days ago. Texas Tech officials are investigating allegations that Gillispie mistreated players. School officials nor Gillispie have had comment on the matter.

The Lexington Herald Leader reports former UK basketball standout Darius Miller signed a contract with the NBA’s New Orleans Hornets Thursday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Miller was taken in the second round by the Hornets and will join former UK teammate and top draft pick Anthony Davis.
