High School Football Hopkinsville and Christian County are both in action this evening. The Tigers will meet Greenwood in the first game of the David Sadler Bowl in Cadiz. Hopkinsville is 0-1 on the season, while Greenwood is 2-0 and ranked 10th in the Associated Press Class 5-A poll. Kickoff just after 5:30, with the Heritage Bank pre game show at 5:08 on Newstalk 95.3 FM/1230 AM WHOP and worldwide at whopam.com. The second game this evening has host Trigg County meeting Crittenden County at approximately 8:00. The Battle of the Breathitt Parkway takes place this evening as Christian County and Henderson County tangle at the Stadium of Champions. Christian County is 2-0 and ranked 6th in the Associated Press Class 5-A poll, while Henderson County is 1-1 and ranked 10th in the Associated Press Class 6-A poll. There were two games played last night, with Lone Oak rolling over Marshall County 52-7 and Reidland edging Fulton County 21-18. Thursday’s High School Scores Boys Soccer: Hopkinsville defeated Calloway County 4-2, Fort Campbell shutout Caldwell County 6-0, Franklin Simpson defeated Todd Central 2-1 in overtime, Madisonville shut out Dawson Springs 4-0, Murray and Trigg County tied at 1, Muhlenberg County defeated Logan County 4-1. Girls Soccer: Todd Central over Webster County 8-1, Dawson Springs defeated Crittenden County 3-1, Muhlenberg County shutout Hopkins Central 5-0. Volleyball: Christian County defeated Madisonville 3 sets to 2, Hopkinsville rolled over Webster County 3-0, Caldwell County shutout Hopkins Central 3-0, Logan County defeated Todd Central 2-0, Trigg County over Crittenden County 3-0. Today’s games: Christian County’s Lady Colonel soccer team meets Lafayette in the Purples Classic in Bowling Green and Heritage Christian Academy’s volleyball team meets Glasgow Christian at Warrior Gym. College Football: Despite a late run by Vanderbilt, ninth ranked South Carolina held off the Commodores 17-13. Gamecocks running back Marcus Lattimore had two touchdowns, including the game winner. In the OVC: Former Tennessee wide receiver Da’Rick Rogers had a touchdown as Tennessee Tech defeated Hampton 41-31. Rogers had three catches for 75 yards. Elsewhere: Eastern Illinois defeated Southern Illinois 49-28 and Central Michigan defeated Southeast Missouri 38-27. Tonight’s game: The Tennessee Vols open their season meeting North Carolina State in the Chik Fil A Football Classic in Atlanta, where Auburn will meet Clemson tomorrow night in a game you can hear at 7:30 on Newstalk 95.3 FM/1230 AM WHOP. Saturday’s action includes Western Kentucky hosting Austin Peay and Murray State playing at number 7 Florida State. The Governor’s Cup will be played Sunday as Kentucky travels to 25th ranked Louisville for a 2:30 kickoff, with Countdown to Kickoff at 1 on Lite 98.7. NFL: The Tennessee Titans won their final pre season game defeated New Orleans 10-6 at LP Field. The Titans open the regular season hosting New England on September 9th. Meanwhile, Titans wide receiver Kenny Britt learned Thursday he will serve a one game suspension for his off the field troubles this summer. Britt was recently placed on the active roster following arthoscopic surgery on both knees.
