SPORTS HEADLINES 8/18/12

High School Football: Korey Mosley rushed for 205 yards and two touchdowns and Ryan Knight tossed two TD passes to Jarvis Irby as Christian County defeated Madisonville 42-28 in its season opener at the Stadium of Champions. The Colonels return to action next Saturday night in the Jerry Claiborne Bowl against Clarksville High at the Stadium of Champions.

Hopkinsville scrimmaged at Lancaster Christian Academy. The Tigers open their season against Lone Oak next Saturday night in the Jerry Claiborne Bowl at the Stadium of Champions.

Elsewhere: Fort Campbell defeated Clarksville High 26-20 in double overtime, Russellville defeated Trigg County 25-14, Calloway County edged Caldwell County 34-31, Butler County defeated Logan County 27-13, Evansville Reitz got by Henderson County 29-23, Ohio County rolled over Muhlenberg County 41-13, Monroe County shut out Franklin Simpson 12-0, Webster County defeated Hopkins Central 15-7, Warren Central defeated Class A's pre season top ranked team Mayfield 42-28 and Greenwood defeated Trousdale County TN, 34-13

Tonight's games: Todd Central meets Glasgow in the TJ Samson Bowl in Glasgow, Bowling Green meets Allen County Scottsville and Warren East plays South Warren in the Rafferty's Bowl and Paducah Tilghman plays at Lone Oak.

NFL: Chris Johnson ran for two touchdowns and Rob Bironas kicked three field goals as Tennessee Titans evened their pre season record at 1-1 with a 30-7 win over Tampa Bay. Former Christian County standout Keith Tandy had two tackles and a pass deflection for the Buccaneers.

College Football: Southern California is number one in the Associated Press pre season top 25. Defending national champion Alabama is second, LSU third, Oklahoma fourth and Oregon is fifth.

College Basketball: Austin Peay opens a three game exhibition series in Canada today, meeting Seneca at 3 this afternoon in Toronto.
