WPSD-TV reports on its website Murray State may have its final game for its upcoming men’s basketball schedule. Coach Steve Prohm says all signs point to Old Dominion coming first to the CFSB Center as part of a home and home series. If or when the game is finalized, look for it to be played between the November 27th game with Lipscomb and the December 8th game at Evansville. Kentucky Sports Radio.com citing multiple reports says University of Central Florida basketball player Keith Clanton is considering transferring after the Golden Knights were banned from post season play by NCAA sanctions. Clanton—who will be a senior this year—is reportedly considering Kentucky and Florida State. The 6-9 front line player averaged 14.5 points and just over 8 rebounds last season. It was announced Tuesday Kentucky’s November 29th basketball game with Notre Dame, part of the SEC-Big East challenge will tip off from South Bend at 6 pm Hopkinsville time. Murray State softball coach Kara Amundson has announced two new assistants are joining her staff. Ashley Gilland comes to Murray from Northern Iowa, where she was an assistant the last two years. Ashley McClain comes to the Lady Racer program after a successful four year playing career at Florida International. McClain was a three time selection on the All Sun Belt first team during her career with the Golden Panthers. The Tennessean reports Nashville Predators coach Barry Trotz has been in touch with Phoenix Coyote free agent forward Shane Doan. Trotz says if Doan cannot get a new deal with the Coyotes, Nashville is on the short list. The Arizona Republic reports Doan has visited with the New York Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers. Team USA plays basketball this afternoon at the Summer Olympics in London. The Americans face Australia in the quarterfinals at 4:15 this afternoon. Also, the gold medal women’s beach volleyball match takes place this afternoon at 3 local time as Misty May-Treanor and Kerry Walsh-Jennings play fellow Americans Jennifer Kessy and April Ross. May-Treanor and Walsh-Jennings have won the last two Olympic gold medals. Major League Baseball has an afternoon game between Cincinnati and Milwaukee, a late afternoon game between the Chicago Cubs and San Diego and evening games have St. Louis hosting San Francisco and Atlanta at Philadelphia.
