The Hoptown Hoppers are back in action this evening at Colonel Field, hosting Madisonville on Christian County Animal Shelter night. Other action in the Ohio Valley League tonight has Owensboro at Marion.

Major League Baseball tonight includes St. Louis opening a series with Miami at Busch Stadium, Atlanta at Philadelphia, Chicago Cubs at New York and Cincinnati at San Diego.

Princeton’s Emma Talley is playing her second round at the US Women’s Open at Black Wolf Run in Kohler, Wisconsin. Talley began the day one over par following an opening round 73 Thursday.

West Kentucky Star.com reports Graves County High School will not host the Touchstone Energy All A 1st region boys and girls basketball tournaments next year. Graves County athletic director Doug Gloyd says the tournament causes conflicts for both the basketball and wrestling teams. Paducah Tilghman has reportedly expressed an interest in taking over hosting the tournament.

Pre season accolades are beginning for Murray State senior quarterback Casey Brockman. Lindy’s College Football pre season magazine has Brockman as a pre season All American in FCS. Brockman could break a number of school records in his upcoming senior year. Murray State is also ranked pre season number 18 in Lindy’s FCS poll. The Racers open the 2012 season September 1st at Florida State.
