High School Softball: Christian County saw its season end in the Rawlings/KHSAA State Tournament in Owensboro Friday. The Lady Colonels won their first game over Ashland, rallying in the bottom of the 7th inning to win 5-3. The second game was against Greenwood, who had already beaten Christian County during the regular season and did it again, winning 8-3. High School Basketball: The Kentucky New Era reports Hopkinsville named Gerald Bennett as its new girls basketball coach on Friday. Bennett had been an assistant on the staff of Tonya Wells, who resigned from the position following the 2011-12 season. Former Hopkinsville standout Christy Soldo had six points and 12 rebounds as the Kentucky All Stars defeated Indiana 75-47 at Freedom Hall Friday night. The two teams play again this evening in Indianapolis. Hoppers Baseball: For the second time in three days, the Hoptown Hoppers play Owensboro this evening at Colonel Field at Christian County High. The Hoppers got a 9-0 no hit victory Thursday against the Oilers. It's Aaron McNeil House night, with those attending bringing a non perishable food item or toiletries receiving a half price admission to the game. First pitch at 7:05, with pre game at 6:50 on Newstalk 95.3 FM/1230 AM WHOP and whopam.com. Friday OVL Scores: Marion defeated Owensboro 4-3 and Fulton over Madisonville 11-1.
