High School Football
Several local teams are one win away from making the Commonwealth Gridiron Bowl championship games.
Tonight’s action includes Fort Campbell meeting number one Louisville Central in a Class 3-A semi final at Fryar Stadium, with kickoff set for 7:30. In Class 2-A, Murray High hosts Glasgow, Class A action has Mayfield taking on Beechwood, Class 4-A has Franklin Simpson meeting Collins High and in Class 5-A Bowling Green host John Hardin.

High School Basketball
The Courier Journal reports the NCAA has stopped two days of high school basketball games that were to be played in Rupp Arena this weekend. The Rumble in Rupp pre season event will instead be played at Lexington Christian Academy because of a new rule implemented this week which prohibits non scholastic events to be played on a collegiate campus or main practice facility.
The head of Bleid Sports—which organized the event—said they had received permission twice to hold the event in Rupp Arena and has signed documents with the facility. Bleid Sports officials say they will continue to fight the NCAA on the matter. One of the games Saturday involves a local team, as University Heights plays Nicholas County at 3:15 Hopkinsville time.
Princeton’s Emma Talley lost to Nicole Morales 2 and 1 in quarterfinal play at the Polo Golf Junior Classic in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida on Thursday.
The Louisville Cardinals—already bowl eligible—meet South Florida today in Tampa.
Other games today include Iowa at Nebraska, with pre game coverage at 10:30 on Newstalk 95.3 FM/1230 AM WHOP.
The game of note in the SEC today has LSU taking on Arkansas, with a trip to the national championship game potentially on the line.
Saturday’s games include Kentucky closing out the regular season hosting Tennessee, with a bowl trip for the Vols on the line, and for Kentucky, the chance to break a 26 game losing streak to the Vols. Pre game coverage at 9:30 on Lite 98.7.
Western Kentucky can solidify its bowl opportunity with a win over Troy in Bowling Green Saturday. Kickoff at 11:30 am.
Vanderbilt can become bowl eligible if they get a win Saturday at Wake Forest.
Murray State is in action this evening as the Racers meet San Francisco in the quarterfinal round of the Great Alaska Shootout. Louisville is also in action this evening, hosting Ohio University and Vanderbilt entertains Monmouth.
Austin Peay’s Lady Governors open play this evening in the Cal Poly Thanksgiving Classic taking on American University.
The championship game of the Pre Season NIT has Syracuse taking on Stanford, with pre game coverage at 3:45 on Newstalk 95.3 FM/1230 AM WHOP.
Kentucky puts its 5-0 mark on the line tomorrow night hosting Portland, with pre game coverage at 4:30 on Lite 98.7.
Other games tomorrow include Austin Peay hosting Middle Tennessee and Western Kentucky hosting Southeastern Louisiana.
Tennessee Titans quarterback Matt Hasselbeck passed the practice test on Thanksgiving Day and will start Sunday for the Titans when they host Tampa Bay at noon in LP Field.
Following the Thanksgiving holiday, the Nashville Predators are back in action Saturday night at Detroit, with coverage at 6 on Newstalk 95.3 FM/1230 AM WHOP.
