Heritage Christian Academy’s basketball teams played at Micah, Saturday, with the warriors winning the boys game 55-45. According to the game story in the Kentucky New Era, Kenneth Morris led the Warriors with 18 points and Nathan Workman added 12. The lady Warriors lost to Micah 30-26, with Grace Waldron leading the Lady Warriors with 17 points. H-C-A’s teams return to action Tuesday night playing at Victory.
Christian County’s Middle School wrestling team won the North Hardin Trojan Invitational, Saturday. The Colonels had four tournament champions: Diion Leavell at 105, Frolian Agulto at 113, Camerin Cole at 121 and Angel Silva at 190. The Colonels also had six runner ups.
Kentucky defeated Old Dominion 62-52 in the finals of the Hall of Fame Classic. Darius Miller led Kentucky with 13 points. The Wildcats return to action hosting Radford on Wednesday night, with pre game coverage at 4:30 on Lite 98.7.
A programming reminder, coach John Calipari will have his weekly call in show at six tonight, following coach Joker Phillips at five also on Lite 98.7.
Western Kentucky lost to Virginia Commonwealth, 69-64 at the DirectTV Charleston Classic. It’s the first of two meetings between the teams in four days, as the teams play again Wednesday evening in Bowling Green.
LSU defeated Georgia Tech, 59-50 also at the DirectTV Charleston Classic. Former Christian County standout Anthony hickey had 20 points, two rebounds and four assists in the victory.
Murray State defeated UAB, 62-55 in Birmingham. Isaiah Cannan led the Racers with 19 points. Murray State is now 4-0 on the season.
Women’s basketball: Virginia upset number three Tennessee, 69-64, and Duke defeated Western Kentucky 80-54.
Tonight’s games: Austin Peay plays at Bowling Green at the CBE Classic, Tennessee takes on Duke, former Christian County standout Donovan Kates and Manhattan College meets Fresno State.
After falling 19-10 at Georgia on Saturday, Kentucky closes out the season this Saturday hosting Tennessee, with pre game coverage at 9:30 on Lite 98.7.
Vanderbilt coach James Franklin says he would not make any comments about the end of the Commodores loss at Tennessee until later this week, or not at all according to the Tennessean. The Vols won the game 27-21 in overtime after game officials erred in reviewing a play which had been blown dead. The play allowed the Vols to return an interception 90 yards for the game winning touchdown.
Western Kentucky has the nation’s leading rusher in bobby rainey. Rainey had a season high 214 yards in Saturday’s 31-21 win at North Texas, and now has 1468 yards on the season. The win at North Texas made the Hilltoppers bowl eligible, and a win Saturday against Troy would help Western’s bowl chances. The teams play in Bowling Green at noon.
Murray State quarterback Casey Brockman scored a touchdown three different ways in Saturday's win at Southeast Missouri. For that, the junior was named the OVC co-offensive player of the week. Brockman ran for a touchdown on the game's opening drive, caught a ten yard pass and threw for a 23 yard score all in the first half.
Georgia football lost one of its beloved treasures Sunday night. Larry Munson--who broadcast Bulldog games for 43 years--died of complications of pneumonia at his Athens home. Munson's broadcasting career covered more than 60 years and included stints at Vanderbilt and as the voice of the Nashville Vols baseball team.

The Tennessean reports the Tennessee Titans will stick with Matt Hasselbeck at quarterback if his elbow injury is not serious. Hasselbeck hit the elbow of his throwing arm on the helment of one of his offensive linemen in the third quarter of the titans 23-17 loss at Atlanta sunday.
Rookie Jake Locker came on in relief and led the Titans to two scores. Tennessee hosts Tampa Bay on Sunday at LP Field.
