The New York Yankees have placed shortstop Derek Jeter on the 15 day disabled list retroactive to July 12th with a right quad strain. Jeter suffered the injury in his first game back with the Yankees July 11th after missing the first 91 games because of his twice fractured left ankle.
The lawsuit filed by former UCLA basketball player Ed O’Bannon in 2009 accuses the NCAA, EA Sports and College Licensing Company of violating anti trust laws. The suit accuses the NCAA of fixing at zero the amount that players can receive from video games and other products that use players' names, likenesses and images.
Last year, the plaintiffs amended their lawsuit, asking that current players be included and arguing that players deserve a share of the billions of dollars in television revenues that flow to the NCAA, conferences and member schools. An NCAA spokeswoman said the NCAA would reserve comment until it has had time to read the amended complaint filed Thursday.
