Local man charged with burglary

Hopkinsville Police arrested a man Sunday morning accused of crawling into the window of a Norman Dale Drive residence.

The report says 22-year old Deontrez Artis of Hopkinsville was told by Kathrine Cothran to move out of the residence last week. He allegedly showed up around 3 a.m. Sunday and began beating on the front door and windows before allegedly crawling in a window.

He reportedly left and came back again later, demanding money from the woman while making a threat to physically harm her. Artis got away with cash but was arrested about 90 minutes later and charged with second degree burglary.

Hopkins Co. man charged with kidnapping

A Hopkins County man is accused of abducting his estranged wife last week and stealing her car to take her to Evansville.

A news release from Hopkins County Sheriff's Deputy Shawn Bean says 27-year old Jarod Bowley allegedly kidnapped his estranged wife using physical force during a property exchange Thursday near Nebo.

The report says Bowley kept the woman in her car that he stole for an unknown period of time before dropping her off at an Evansville hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the abduction. The vehicle was later found abandoned near Owensboro and Bowley was arrested in White Plains on kidnapping and vehicle theft charges.

Man accused of hitting daughter at Trigg campground

A Princeton man was arrested in Trigg County over the weekend after he allegedly hit his daughter while intoxicated at a campground.

The arrest citation for 31-year old Mickey Rogers of Princeton says the Trigg County Sheriff's Office was called to the Hurricane Creek Campground a little after 3 pm. The report says Rogers had trouble standing, smelled of alcohol and had slurred speech.

Other people at the campground told deputies that Rogers had smacked his daughter in the face. The victim reportedly said her father had slapped her after becoming angry and that he knocked her down. The girl was left in the custody of her mother and Rogers was arrested on assault and being drunk in public charges.

Hopkinsville woman charged with burglary

Cadiz Police arrested a Hopkinsville woman Sunday evening who is accused of going into a home without permission while the resident was out of town.

A news release says Officer Roger Knight responded to a call of someone inside a Cardinal Drive residence who shouldn't be there. Officer Knight found 36-year old Jayme Hart of Hopkinsville at the home and the release says she had been eating the victim's food and it appeared she had rummaged through the home.

Police say Hart and the victim, Amy McKnight, were acquaintances but that Hart didn't have permission to be there while she was away. Hart was arrested without incident and charged with second degree burglary.

Cadiz man faces multiple charges after foot pursuit

A Cadiz man was arrested after a foot chase last night that began with a trespassing investigation.

A news release from Cadiz Police says 21-year old Nicholas Merritt of Wallace Avenue, Cadiz is charged with criminal trespass, disorderly conduct, fleeing from police, resisting arrest and being drunk in public.

The investigation began around 10 pm when officers got a call that Merritt was knocking on doors and windows at 54 Mary White Boulevard in the Cadiz Housing Authority. Merritt reportedly has a relationship with the resident of the home, but is not allowed to have contact with her due to an investigation by social services.

Merritt allegedly scaled a fence and tried to hide behind a building when he saw police. He allegedly later refused to show his hands and wouldn't come down from a stairwell, but complied with commands after Sgt. Scott Brown used his taser. Merritt was lodged in the Christian County Jail.
