A Hopkinsville Police Officer was bitten by a dog while investigating a loud music call Saturday night, with the animal's owner arrested.

Officers Robert Sibal and Andre Jacobs went to 1400 East 19^th Street just before 10 p.m. to the report of loud music coming from a home. Police could see stereo speakers in the window of the home and Officer Sibal writes he identified himself as police and shined his flash light in the front window as he approached the residence.

As police approached the front door, 46-year old James Boyd of Hopkinsville allegedly opened the door allowing a dog to charge Officer Sibal, who was bitten on his elbow. Officer Sibal reported bleeding and swelling from the incident.

Police says Boyd has a history of having a vicious dog. He was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, harboring a vicious animal and wanton endangerment.

A Hopkinsville man is charged with burglary after allegedly breaking into a West 7^th Street home and assaulting a pregnant woman.

Officers were called to the home just before 10 pm Sunday night and heard a woman screaming for help. When police got inside, they found 25-year old George Watkins of Hopkinsville allegedly standing over the woman who is eight months pregnant and yelling in her face.

The victim said Watkins had forced his way inside and also hurt her neck in the alleged assault, though she said she would seek medical treatment on her own. Watkins was lodged in the Christian County Jail.

Two local men are accused of burglarizing a north Christian County business earlier this month.

Christian County Sheriff's Office Captain Chris Miller says the crime happened during the first week of May at Apex Materials on North Greenville Road. Several items were stolen, including a plasma cutter, welder and multiple industrial sized batteries.

Police used witness statements and evidence collected at the scene to charge 20-year old Hunter Barnett of Madisonville Road, Crofton and 18-year old Brandon Stutzman of Princeton Road, Cerulean with burglary, theft by unlawful taking and theft by deception.

Captain Miller says Barnett allegedly attempted to sell two of the batteries to Green Earth Recycling and that Stutzman admitted his involvement to police. Barnett reportedly denied any involvement, when interviewed.

Stutzman was booked into the Christian County Jail on $5,000 bond and was released the same day. Barnett faces additional burglary charges stemming from a Kentucky State Police investigation and remains in jail on $30,000 bond.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has closed Crofton-Fruit Hill Road during the daylight hours this week for repairs.

The closure is to allow base stabilization repairs near the 10 mile-marker, according to a news release, which says the work should take about a week to complete.

Crews will attempt to reopen the road, also known as KY 800, at the end of each work day, though they acknowledge there may be times when an overnight closure is necessary. There will be a marked detour via KY 1914 and KY 189.

Much of Trigg County will be without electricity for about an hour early Sunday morning while Pennyrile Electric performs routine maintenance.

The planned outage will happen just after midnight Sunday, according to a news release from Pennyrile, which says approximately 4,125 customers served by the Cadiz Substation will be impacted.

Those areas include the City of Cadiz, South Road, KY 272 East, KY 124, Highway 139 North, Wallonia, Gracey and Hamtown. Pennyrile Electric says it regrets the inconvenience caused by the interruption, but it is necessary for TVA to perform maintenance on a power transformer within the substation.

In case of bad weather, the interruption will be rescheduled for a later date.
