A Sunday morning wreck in south Christian County injured a Herndon woman.
That wreck happened around 11:05, with the report from the sheriff’s office saying 28-year old Robert Alexander of 4485 Gracey Herndon Road entered a curve in the Binns Mill Road too sharply and hit an oncoming vehicle of 30-year old Sherry Skaggs head-on.
Both drivers were wearing a seat belt, with Ms. Skaggs requiring a trip to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment of injuries. Alexander went unhurt in the incident.

Trooper Ryan Fox
Two Hopkins County Sheriff’s deputies and a State Trooper were shot in the Hanson community yesterday afternoon while responding to the report of a man threatening suicide.
A news release says the officers responded to 85 Section House Lane around 4:40 after dispatchers at the Hopkins County ECC and at State Police Post 2 received a call from 25-year old Dustin Barnes of Hanson threatening to take his own life.
Hopkins County Sheriff Frank Latham, Deputies Otis Chamberlain, Jamie Lampton and Mark Gentry and State Trooper Ryan Fox responded and the Sheriff’s Department made contact with Barnes by phone.
At approximately 5:44, Barnes reportedly exited his home and fired a shotgun at police, hitting Deputy Gentry, Deputy Lampton and Trooper Fox. Officers returned fire and struck Barnes.
The three officers and Barnes were taken by ambulance to Regional Medical Center in Madisonville, where Barnes would succumb to his injuries. Deputy Gentry and Trooper Fox were treated and released, while Deputy Lampton was scheduled for surgery—but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

A pedestrian was killed on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard last night, with Clarksville Police asking the public for help in the investigation.
The incident happened around 7pm, according to police, who say a 53-year old male pedestrian was on the roadway when 54-year old John Taylor or Elkton was northbound and attempted to change from the left to center lane and struck the walker.
Police say it appears the pedestrian was walking west in the center lane on the northbound side when he was struck by Taylor’s van. The pedestrian died on the scene, with his name to be released pending family notification.
Clarksville Police detective Melissa Spielhagen is the lead investigator and anyone with information on the incident is encouraged to call her at 931-645-8477.

Martavious Briggs
Clarksville police have made an arrest in a shooting incident from last night.
That incident happened outside at the night deposit bar at 404 North 2nd street around 9pm, according to a news release, which quotes a witness as saying he heard men arguing and then heard shots fired. The 31-year old male victim sustained a gunshot wound to the leg, but was able to make his way inside the building to call 911.
He was taken by ambulance to Gateway Medial Center and then to a Nashville hospital. He is listed in stable condition.
Police say the victim identified 21-year old Martavious Demond Briggs of Nadia Drive, Clarksville as the man who shot him and Briggs turned himself in at the police department just after 5 this morning.
The argument reportedly stemmed from an argument over 20 dollars and Briggs is charged with attempted homicide and is in the Montgomery County Jail on 250 thousand dollars bond.

A Cadiz man was arrested Friday for allegedly stealing several items from a Hopkinsville hotel.
A news release from Cadiz Police says Officer Chad Grace arrested 31-year old Matthew Boyd of 54 Mary White Boulevard at 3:30pm Friday on the strength of a warrant for theft charges.
Boyd is accused of stealing a 32 inch television, cordless drill and other items from the Hampton Inn while he was employed there.
