The woman driving the school bus which crashed in far western Kentucky seven months ago today, killing one student, has been charged with multiple crimes.

A news release from State Police says 58-year old Anita Roach of Arlington has been charged with 2^nd degree Manslaughter, five counts of Assault, 19 counts of Wanton Endangerment and three counts of doctor shopping for prescription pills.

Ms. Roach was driving the bus in Carlisle County May 16^th when it wrecked on U.S. Highway 62 near the community of Cunningham, killing Logan Simpson. A Carlisle County Grand Jury indicted Ms. Roach on the charges yesterday.

Bates

A Fort Campbell man was arrested early this morning on DUI charges after wrecking on Fort Campbell Boulevard at Walnut Street.

The report from Hopkinsville Police says 26-year old Jack Bates of Fort Campbell was northbound on the boulevard approaching the Walnut Street intersection around 1:45 this morning when he locked his brakes, crossed the median and struck a guard rail.

Bates continued on for a short distance and came to rest in the middle of Walnut Street just north of the railroad tracks. Bates reportedly told police someone had pulled out in front of him, but the reporting officer writes it appears speed and impaired driving were the only factors.

Bates blew a .178 on the breath test—well over twice the legal limit—and was arrested for DUI and lodged in the Christian County Jail.

 The Christian County Board of Education received disheartening news tonight during their final meeting of the year.

After months of anticipation and promises to have the new Christian County Middle School ready and operational by the beginning of the new year, Codell Construction Manager Richard Mitchell told school board members the school is still not complete.

Board Chairman Barry Cornelius told Mitchell he was not happy with the progress.

Mitchell told school board members the delay is due to unforeseen last minute changes and additions to the school.                                           

In other business, the school approved a semi-professional football league and a baseball team to use the Stadium of Champions for events for next summer.

The school board also approved Christian County Schools to become a member of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, in order for the school district to receive recognition for achievements.

The next board of education meeting is scheduled for January 19^th at 6 p.m. in the board room at the central office.

Clarksville Police need your help in locating an alleged rapist.

28-year old Erastus James Mummery has two warrants on file for rape and police say he also has an extensive criminal history that includes previous felony convictions.

According to Clarksville Police the two rape warrants stem from allegations of two separate incidents of rape.

Mummery is accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year old female on September 2010 at a Clarksville residence and he is accused of getting into the vehicle of a 17-year old female and sexually assaulting her in the vehicle on December 4^th.

Police urge anyone with information about Mummery’s whereabouts to contact police at 931-645-8477.

A man already in the Calloway County Jail on sexual abuse charges has had additional counts added on.

State Police Public Information Officer Dean Patterson says 50-year old Robert Meredith of Hazel now faces three more counts of Sexual Abuse.

Meredith pled guilty to sex abuse charges in August and police say the additional charges come from information obtained by another victim. A grand jury has already indicted Meredith for the three counts of abuse and he remains in jail.
