The Todd County Rotary Club will hold a political forum Tuesday evening for the candidates running for state office.
Former school system Superintendent Mike Kenner says the forum will be Tuesday evening at 6pm at the Todd County Central High School Auditorium and will focus on four main issues.
Kenner says they will have questions already drawn up and that audience members can submit their own.
State Senator Joey Pendleton will debate Whitney Westerfield and 16th District State Representative Martha Jane King will debate Chris Hightower.
A wreck at Pennyrile Parkway and U.S. 68-80 yesterday afternoon sent one person to the hospital.
The Hopkinsville Police report says 51-year old Rita Mallory of Elkton was attempting to turn left of the exit ramp onto 68 when she drove into the path of a vehicle operated by 16-year old Perry Quinn of Hopkinsville.
Quinn said he tried to stop, but didn’t have time to avoid a collision. His passenger, 51-year old Ann Perry of Hopkinsville, was taken by ambulance to Jennie Stuart Medical Center.
Ms. Mallory went uninjured.
A wreck on Highland Lick Road in Todd County this morning injured one person.
The crash happened around 8am when the driver pulled out of a private driveway onto Highland Lick and drove into the path of Barry “Moe” Latham of Sharon Grove.
Latham had been eastbound and didn’t have time to stop to avoid the wreck. Latham was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
An Elkton Police Officer was injured this morning while working the scene of an accident when he was hit by an oncoming vehicle.
Todd County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Gerald Barnett says Officer Brian Atkinson was on foot working the scene of a wreck on U.S. 68-80 around 7:30 when he was hit by a vehicle.
Officer Atkinson was taken by ambulance to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment of possible broken bones. Information on the driver of the other vehicle wasn’t immediately available.
A Christian County woman was killed in a head-on collision on Dawson Springs Road this morning.
The incident happened around 6:40 near the 13-mile-marker, which is about two miles north of the bypass. Christian County Sheriff’s Captain Chris Miller said 55-year old Stella Mart of Greenville Road was attempting to pass another vehicle when she hit a northbound flatbed truck.
Ms. Mart's car then left the roadway and collided with a ditch, ejecting her from the wreckage. She was pronounced dead on the scene by Deputy Coroner Mike Stokes.
The driver of the truck, Carol Larkins of Dawson Springs, was taken by ambulance to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment of chest and shoulder injuries that didn’t appear to be life-threatening.
