The Christian County Animal Shelter has found a new way to expand its outreach to the community.

Director Irene Grace recently started a Christian County Animal Shelter Facebook page, which she says has had a very positive response and has helped homeless animals find homes.

Ms. Grace says she posts photos of animals that have been around for a while in hopes that one of the hundreds of Facebook “fans” will find the face irresistible.

A rear-end collision on the Pennyrile Parkway last night injured two.

Kentucky State Police say the incident happened around 9:16 near the 3 mile-marker, which is near the bypass interchange.

The report says 35-year old Timothy Hall of Hopkinsville was northbound when he was rear-ended by a vehicle driven by 20-year old Jazmine Franklin of Hopkinsville.

Hall’s vehicle went into the median, while Ms. Franklin’s vehicle ran off the roadway and overturned several times before finally coming to rest.

Ms. Franklin was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical center for non-life-threatening injuries. A passenger in the Hall vehicle—identified only as Jamie Hall—was also taken to Jennie Stuart.

Clarksville police investigated a robbery outside of Governors’ Square Mall from last night.

Officers were called to the rear entrance near Old Navy around 7:30 after a mall employee was walking back to her vehicle and heard footsteps behind her. The victim said she turned around and saw a suspect with his hands up as if he had a handgun.          

She said it was obvious he was not armed and did not comply when he demanded her purse. The perpetrator then grabbed her purse and pulled it away in a violent manner, throwing her to the ground.

The suspect then got into a white vehicle and drove away.

A Hopkinsville truck driver, a California man and Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement Officer went to the hospital after a wreck in Ohio County yesterday.

A story in the Evansville Courier Press says Officer Timothy Blakenship had stopped trucker Fred Ford of California around 9:30am and Ford was standing outside of this truck, while Blakenship was in the cruiser.

41-year old Robert Thomas of Hopkinsville was eastbound on the Western Kentucky Parkway and, for an unknown reason, sideswiped the cruiser and tractor-trailer. Thomas’ tractor-trailer also struck Ford, who was still on foot.

Ford and Thomas were taken to Ohio County Hospital in Hartford for non-life-threatening injuries, while Officer Blakenship was treated and released at Owensboro Health Systems. Thomas was cited for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and a registration offense.

A wreck on W. 17^th St. early yesterday afternoon sent a Clarksville woman to an area hospital.

The report from Hopkinsville Police says 30-year old Brandy Golder of Clarksville said she had just turned from South Main St. onto W. 17^th when she attempted to settle a drink that was about to spill.

That’s when her vehicle ran off the roadway and struck a utility pole. Ms. Golder was treated by EMS on the scene, and would be taken by private vehicle to Blanchfield Army Community Hospital on Fort Campbell.
