A three year old girl was reportedly shot with a BB gun on Gale Lane recently, with the incident under investigation by police.

The alleged incident happened on February 28^th or 29^th, according to the police report, which says the victim was shot in the buttocks—allegedly by another juvenile acquainted with the family.

The girl’s injuries are listed as “minor.”

Christmas came early to many Elkton residents Thursday when AT&T turned on 3G cell phone service, allowing customers to quickly surf the web on their mobile devices.

A formal announcement on what the company calls “mobile internet service” will be made at the old courthouse in Elkton Monday morning at 9:30, but the switch was flipped well ahead of an “end of the month” timeline that had been spoken of previously.

A spokesperson for AT&T says the company is pleased to provide the much-needed service to Elkton and that many high-ranking officials will join state lawmakers and local officials in celebrating the occasion Monday morning.

Todd County residents have yearned for technology that most larger communities take for granted over the last several years—most notably cell phone service and access to high speed internet service.

An argument led to a stabbing on East 2^nd Street in Hopkinsville early this morning, though the victim said the suspect didn’t mean to do it.

The incident happened just after midnight at 210 E. 2^nd, according to the report from Hopkinsville Police, which says 42-year old Quentin Mass was in a verbal altercation with another man which became physical.

That somehow led to Mass being stabbed in the leg with a knife, which he described as accidental. Mass was treated for minor injuries, with no arrest made so far in the incident.

A Hopkinsville woman was arrested yesterday afternoon on falsely reporting an incident charges for allegedly calling in a burglary that never happened last week.

The arrest card for 34-year old DeShannon Thornton says she admitted to officers that she lied last Thursday when she claimed a TV, furniture, clothes and frozen food were stolen from her Jan Drive residence.

She had claimed the perpetrator pried open the front door to get inside, but allegedly admitted later she made the story up after selling some of her possessions to pay bills.

Thornton was charged with falsely reporting and was lodged in the Christian County Jail.

The Christian County School Board appointed Board Chairman Barry Cornelius to serve on the Superintendent Search Screening Committee after he nominated himself to the committee during tonight’s meeting.
Anita Boyd then spoke to board members about how she supported the school board’s recent decision in not renewing current Superintendent Brady Link’s contract.

In other business, the school board approved a Wednesday, May 16^th graduation date for local seniors. Hopkinsville High School seniors will be graduating at 5 p.m. and Christian County High School seniors will be walking across the stage at 8:30 p.m. at the Stadium of Champions.
The board also approved the sale of 10 school buses, which will reportedly be replaced by 7 new school buses expected to arrive next month and approved to give over $10,000 to the Christian County High School Marching Band to purchase new uniforms.
Board members then went into closed session and took no action concerning pending litigation.
