Kentucky State Police and the Kentucky State Fire Marshall’s Office have determined a Warren County residence was intentionally set on fire Thursday night.
State Police say around 8 p.m. the Woodburn Fire Department responded to a residential fire located 38-88 Woodburn-Allen Springs Road.
When firefighters arrived on the scene, the fire was concentrated in back of the residence.
Police identified the homeowners as Melvin and Nora Williams, who were not at home when the fire occurred.
Police say the couple was in the process of relocating to a second home located in Butler County.
Officials with the Kentucky State Fire Marshall’s Office responded to the scene to determine the cause and origin of the fire and preliminary investigation indicated there were multiple areas of origin.
Police say the arson was an attempt to conceal a burglary.

Hopkins County Sheriff’s Deputies continue to investigate the details of a domestic dispute from this morning, that left one person dead and the other person in stable condition at an area hospital.
Around 8:30 a.m. sheriff’s deputies responded to 18-62 Forrest Acres Loop in reference to a domestic dispute.
Deputies say 69-year old David Marks was severely injured after he was shot by his wife, 68-year old Roberta Marks for unknown reasons.
Upon arrival, deputies found David Marks at a neighbor’s house and Roberta Marks inside the couple’s Forrest Acres Loop residence.
Shortly after arrival, deputies reported that a single gunshot was heard from the residence and when deputies entered the house, they discovered Roberta Marks on a bed located in the back of the house with a gun in her hand.
After several minutes of negotiations, Roberta Marks was disarmed and was discovered to have a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Roberta Marks and David Marks were both transported to the hospital in separate ambulances where they both underwent emergency surgery.
Deputies say Roberta Marks succumbed to her injuries and died during surgery, while David Marks is listed in stable condition.
Officials with the Healthy Community Coalition are once again inviting Hopkinsville-Christian County residents to get fit by participating in their 3rd annual 8-week Hopdown the Pounds Challenge.

Major General James McConville will posthumously award the Distinguished Service Cross to the family members of Staff Sergeant Eric Shaw for his actions while he was deployed with his unit, 2nd Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, in Afghanistan in 2010.

Hopkinsville Police continue to follow up on leads from last Saturday’s murder on Howell Street and are asking for help from the public.
The initial report from Hopkinsville Police said the incident happened sometime between 3:30 and 5:30 Saturday at 725 Howell, where 20-year old Alicia Jackson of Hopkinsville was found dead by a female inside the home. The autopsy revealed Ms. Jackson died from a gunshot wound.
Public Information Officer Paul Ray says detectives are following up on leads received through the anonymous Crime Stoppers tips line, but more information would be very valuable.
Officer Ray says the police nor anyone else will know your identity if you call the anonymous tips line at 887-TIPS.
