Fancy Farm picnic and political rally this weekend

Some of Kentucky’s most well-known politicians say they won’t be there, but a big crowd is still expected at this year’s Fancy Farm political picnic in Graves County this weekend.

Fancy Farm is annually Kentucky’s largest political rally and it’s held at St. Jerome Catholic Church. Picnic Chairman Todd Hayden says the absence of people like Governor Steve Beshear, Lieutenant Governor Jerry Abramson and Senator Rand Paul won’t hurt attendance as much as some might think.

Haden says the church pulls in about 220 to 240-thousand dollars each year, but they only net about half that amount.

Those who confirmed they will be here include Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, who is not up for re-election this year.

HPD detectives receive computer forensic training

Criminals who use the internet for illegal purposes will no longer be able to hide their identities, especially after two local officers received federal training to target those criminals.
Detectives Bert Finley and Scott Raup attended computer forensic training at the federal law enforcement training center in Glynco, Georgia.
Hopkinsville Police say the three-week long training consisted of digital evidence analysis and seized computer evidence recovery with the course designed to teach law enforcement representatives how to navigate through the two most commonly used computer forensic suites in the united states and fundamental forensic techniques to analyze electronic data from desktop computer systems.
Hopkinsville Police say with this training, it’s the department’s goal to one day have its own forensic lab in the near future.
