Officials in Todd County are hoping for good weather Thursday afternoon when the new farmer's market opens for the first time in Elkton.
The Todd County Farmer's Market will open at 3 and close around 7 p.m. at the Elkton Baptist Church parking lot on East Main Street. Todd County Health Department Director Jen Harris says there was a need for access to fresh produce and grant money helped get the market started to address that need.
Ms. Harris says results of a community assessment survey showed residents were interested in having a farmer's market, so she hopes they will show up in large numbers.
The Todd County Farmer's Market Facebook page says homemade breads, spring honey, herbs, kale, chard, radishes, lettuce, green onions, tomato plants, potted flowers, and canned goods are some of the items expected to be for sale the first time around.
