A cooler than normal spring has made it hard to remember that it’s severe weather season, but we could be reminded the hard way late tonight and tomorrow morning.
The Storm Prediction Center has all of western Kentucky and most of middle Tennessee placed under a slight risk of severe weather in the overnight and early morning hours. Forecasters say damaging winds is the main risk and there is a slight possibility of a tornado in the area.
It is only a slight risk, but residents are encouraged to stay tuned to local media and to check the batteries in their weather radios. A weather radio is especially important to receive warnings in overnight storm systems, as a vast majority of tornado deaths happen when people are normally asleep.
Stay tuned to the WHOP family of stations, our websites and our Facebook page for the latest on this developing weather situation.
